If that were true, I wouldn't be in trucking right now. I never worked for a major carrier and never went OTR. It can be done if you put your mind to it.

Thanks for the info. I spoke with GTI and they are not currently hiring any student drivers. Also after looking into May it looks like they have a class action lawsuit pending against them from their drivers so that raises some red flags.

I know this might not be good, but I have a friend who went with USA truck and so far he has had no coplaints. He did his training with a trainer and he got his truck. He has been home every other weekend and so far no complaints from him.

Hoo, boy...I bet the Teamsters are watching this one like a bunch of vultures. They're the ones screaming the loudest for hourly pay. Heh....

I'm going to steal the link and make it into its own thread. Thank you!

Trucking companies are like a strawberry. Very pretty on the outside and not always so sweet on the inside.

put your time in and deal with it for a yaer. you're at the bottom of the barrel so to speak, so you're gonna get screwed. take the BS for a year and then start really looking for what will be right for you. and if i see that you signed a lease/purchase/screw me agreement, i will track you down and ..... your not ready for something like that....EVER!!

I know I'm gonna take some heat for the "fleece purchase" thing...but ask yourself (or any other Leasr Purchaser for that matter) this question.....

if the company your leased onto could put that load you have on a company truck for cheaper...would they? we're all in the business to make money, you just cost less (work cheaper) than a company driver :biggrin_25523:

Then how is it I put more money in my pocket, running the same loads, that I was running as a company driver?
