Man, my company is so great. They pay me most of the time when it is due. And Only ask me the same question 25 30 times a day.And some days after I deliver the load and tell them I am starting my 10 hour break. They let me sleep 5 or maybe 6 hours before waking me up at 11 pm to ask when I am gonna start back for my 4 pm appointment. Never mind it only a 9 hour trip that I make 6 times a week. And compastion man that is where they really are tops. I tall them my father has passed, and they get me home at midnight the day before he is buried. And tell me I can have off till 5 pm that day.
And equipment. Not only do they give me a truck to drive, But one with a matress that has only a few thousand bed bugs from the nasty ### that was in it before. And they even let me take it to get washed out of my huge 300 dollar checks.
But here's the best part. If I call and mention they shorted me on my check I get it back in about a month. They even let me get home for 34 hours every 3 months.
Man life at xyz trucking is good!

I no longer work for xyz trucking but this is the attitude some expect drivers to have!Injun Thanks this. -
I guess I hit things in the middle. Companies are no better than the dispatchers and drivers. There are plenty of lousy uncaring companies that have a McDonald's attitude toward drivers, "Don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out." I've also seen my share of drivers that if I were their dispatcher I would be in jail for murder. I would have reached through the qualcomm screen and strangled them with my bare hands.
As for my situation, my company has always had a reputation for low miles and micro-management. I like to run hard take a reset, run hard take another reset, run hard and go home for a few days. I'm also very independent. So the relationship between myself and the company I'm leased to is like fitting a round peg in a square hole. If the peg is small enough it fits, but not very well. Why don't I leave? Who says I won't? When the time is right I will move on, but any career is a marathon and not a sprint. Too many drivers don't understand that concept. Short term decisions should be based with long term goals in mind, not boo hooing over every slight whether real or perceived.Injun Thanks this. -
i gotta rant, cant stand them slowing the trucks down while you work there shouldnt be legal.
if i have a 70 mph truck and run 10hrs with avg thats 650 miles
if they slow me to 60 mph and run 10 with avg thats 550 miles
100 miles difference at 60 mph means i have to work 1hr 40 min longer for the same ammount of money.
would like to see a large frieght like texas pass a law saying if you cant run our speed limit you cant enter our state. they would have no choice but to turn all trucks back up
if a guy is a moron then hes a moron slowing him down 10 mph isnt going to help. just because the moron has training wheels dosnt mean he still isnt going to still drive into the treeInjun Thanks this. -

I understand your position. However, the hard numbers have proven the major fleets that govern their trucks had their highway crash numbers fall significantly and their fuel economy improve after governing their trucks.
The point was, the drivers do not own those trucks. If they could afford their own trucks and had business sense, they would not be company drivers.
Opening the trucks up is not going to force a driver to maintain the maximum speed limit. It only gives tne option to do so. Evidence is the number of owner ops who choose to drive at a lower speed than the posted limit. That number is the maximum legal speed for the road. In most cases, the minimum is 40mph on a freeway. Not too often do we see trucks governed at 40mph. Therefore, those trucks are traveling at a legal speed.
I challenge you to find a road within the US that has a minimum legal speed of more than 55mph. -
Haha funny stuff right there. All new drivers need to read that.

This may be true however research Semi's being rearended, Drivers falling asleep because they must push and stop only to fuel(No 5 -10 min breaks) to get out check truck strech legs.) medical evidence shows remaining seated for a extended period leads to fatiuge and a lower level of attention to detail.
I myself have driven right by scales due to just being in a daze from being so slow I had to drive 600 miles non stop. -
Just to play devils advocate here (you know I luv ya, Injun, but I gotta pick on ya sometimes!) I could afford my own truck, and I have the smarts to run it, but I still choose to be a company driver.
Bad excuse. Even in a truck governed at 62, I am almost always able to stop for short rest breaks throughout the day. Very rarely did I get a load that was such a rush I couldn't. If the company you are working for is scheduling loads so tightly you have no time to stop, you need to find a new company. Or just start refusing to haul this loads.Injun and Preacher Man Thank this. -
I am a dedicated driver from Gallatin, TN to KC, Mo thats
9 hrs 6 mins / 571.15 miles = 63.46 mph avg.
When I started I had a 67 mph truck. Made with No problem.
Now I have a 62 mph truck - 10 mph for traffic , scales, fuel
571.15 x 52mph = 10.98 hrs
So as you can see dropping max speed 5 mph is killing me on time!
Add 5 mph to the drop from 67-53 and 62- 52 because truck now has no power on hills dropping to 5th sometimes 4th gear where before same hills went up in 7th or 8th in a 10 spd. Also figure getting hung up behind slower traffic because I refuse to block left lane passing a 61 or 60 mph car or truck and holding everyone back 5 or 10 minutes waiting on me to pass.7122894003481 Thanks this.
