Went through the cattle mill at Cr England and thought I could make it. Everyone in my class failed except one guy who had previous trucking exp. I made it to the skills test by dedicated every waking moment to training and studying. Even though I had a total of maybe 5 hrs in two weeks driving I DID NOT have adequate training to pass. I failed skills and was sent back again THE NEXT DAY! NO practice or anything. Thrown under the bus right there. Of course I failed with everyone else. Then they wanted me to have 1 day to train and go back. Well I was out in winter wether a good six hrs waiting my turn to get 1 turn!! I thought screw this taking my last shot elsewhere so I can actually make it count!
Their disposition was:
We can't get ppl off the lot, too many students**
I wonder why! Every week dozens of students roll in they get a hefty tax cut and could care less if they work for them. The lucky ones if you want to call them lucky work for a whopping 22cents a mile for a company that does not care if you succeed or not. They'll just take more advantage. This is not new news for ppl reading reviews on this company. I had to look for myself and indeed confirm and agree with other negative reviews. I figured a start is better than no start. At least I got far with the little training I wouldn't otherwise w/o money. It is ALL on you there minimal training and would be pissed as hell if I was paying for that bs! There are better companies out there.
Another one for the CR England stack-

And Monday morning a whole new batch of wide eyed future truckers will get off the bus and the whole process will continue. Sad
toddjb26, 7122894003481 and kid_cardiac Thank this. -
You failed CREs school ... LOL. And FYI there is no tax credit for students, only employees.
Also get the pay structure right ... For company it's $.11 for all miles to the truck for Phase 2 students running team. $.13 team/$.26 solo after upgrade, $.14/$.28 after 90 days(inlcudes training period), $.15/$.30 after 6 months. Plus a $.03 bonus for evey mile over 16000 miles a month when running team, not sure about the solo bonus. Overall thier company pay is competive with other large carriers. It's thier lease compensation that really sucks and where most poeple find themselves screwed into the ground.
CRE has issues, but at least have your facts right, instead of parroting what you read on the internet.corneileous Thanks this. -
I'm not a CR employee or statistical pro just sharing what I was told and went through. For your records I QUIT their program and have one more chance to pass, I WILL PASS. Yes if I stayed there I would have failed LIKE MOST students. I'm better off anywhere else. FYI this is not the most accurate post in the web but a strong opinion closely representing my experience. I feel for people who lost their jobs or left family for that scam. If anyone wants facts go to the company website if you want to believe something sugar coated. Or random know it all people who claim to have all the facts straight* The truth is my experience exemplifies the majority of CRE experiences and the school has a very high turnover rate. For numbers look elsewhere that's not my department.

Dear England school FLUNKIE,
Per the rules of this esteemed site, I cannot insult you so I will inform you instead.
Like Mr. Mystic, I was a "greenhorn" when I first hopped into shiny red C.R. England truck yet, in just ONE short trip around the block, I somehow managed to figure out how to drive that sucka.
I will agree that the personnel at the training facility may seem to be less than concerned with your personal success but, much like the military they are working with large number of, (myself included, at the time) waterheads that have basically no clue as to what they are doing.
I agree with Mr. Mystic, you should get your facts together or do some research on your own before you start hammering on a company. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT a fan of the England company. I think they exploit their Owner Op's at every opportunity and don't honestly care about your success, however, I received all the information and training I needed to obtain my cdl and learn how to actually drive one of them there big red trucks. I'm sorry that you couldn't master the task, I hear that wal mart needs door greeters, you can be home every night so mommy can tuck you in.
Best of luck wash out. -
Hold the phone jimmy,
I thought the rap on england was that they "spoon fed" their students and pushed them through their school only to release ill equipped and unskilled
"driver" onto the roadways?
You're telling me that you FAILED the England driving school?
WOW. -
That's the key right there . All these wannabes rush of to CDL mills think anybody can drive a truck . WRONG . That's like saying anybody can pick up a banjo and start playing "Dueling Banjos " . Some people are musically inclined and can play by ear . Others can take lessons for years and never get it . It's the same with trucking . Some can in fact master driving after a few hours behind the wheel . Many others will never be able to shift or back properly no matter how long they stay at it .Private CDL mills know who the misfits are but they like the color of their money and make sure they get that valuable certificate .

The CR England school is very difficult. I just went through it in November and I was only one of four who passed out of 30. I drove throughout the 90s and if it weren't for this fact I am almost sure I would have failed it too. Even if you make it through the school, the DMV test (at least in Illinois) is murder at best.
I have no idea why you guys are being so hard on the OP. He is one of the very few that have made a post here about CRE that is actually accurate. What he said about the school rang many bells.
Regardless, wether one gets a CDL through CRE, another mill, or a school, they all just teach you enough to gain the CDL. Everyone reading this knows your experience comes when your on the road. It takes time and experience to become a professional driver.sevenmph Thanks this. -
How true, I remember when I went to a local school on the first or second year after it was required and I spent 8 weeks learning about diesel engines and doing pretrips and had very little driving time. My first run for KLLM was from Cali to Atlanta and was a team run. Not some guy sitting in the pass seat telling you what to do.
Since I have done some training before I can tell you that some people are borne to drive and some will never get it. But I did have a couple that I thought where hopeless and proved me wrong. I wonder how many of these trainees that these schools send packing if given the time and effort would of been million milers receiving a plaque some day. It's a shame that training has become nothing more then a exercise in filling seats with cheap drivers.sevenmph Thanks this. -
Appears you already broke that rule. Allow me to inform you; "FLUNKIE "=insulting.
And more insulting. I'm sorry, sir, but if those two quotes don't fit within your definition of "insulting" (never mind obnoxious and childish) behavior, would you care to define what does, exactly?
You may be the best trucker the world has ever known, but your behavior (and claim that you are somehow abiding by the rules while still conducting yourself in such a manner) doesn't say much for your integrity or personal character. Your skill with a vehicle may be superb, but character and integrity make a man.
OP, sorry to hear about your difficulties with Engeland. I haven't heard much positive about them myself. Best of luck on passing your test. Practice makes perfect. I have no doubt the skills will come with some more time behind the wheel.
