Please tell me who is accepting the freight at $1.00 a mile. If fuel is .60 cents a mile and you pay your driver .40 cent a mile how can they take this. Hell, even if they pay a driver .28 cent a mile they still are not paying the bills. Dont these idiots realize this.

No! They don't cause they are idiots ,Foreigners or big trucking companies that make more money trhu the raining mill than they do hauling freight....

Don't forget theres lots of new carriers who believe the BS these brokers say

There are a lot of carriers that pay their lease trucks .85 to .95 a mile loaded or empty and will haul anything to get out of a bad area instead of taking money out of their pocket to reposition trucks. Problem is brokers know this to, all they need to do is pick up a mag at a TS.

If you grow your business beyond a single truck you will see it is about more than a single trip. A company will focus on what is the truck making in a week or a month. And independent will focus on each trip. I would be willing to bet the big companies are still grossing better than $2/mile

A stupid one will focus on each trip...I am always looking at the average for the month and have been at it long enough to just sort'a know what I need to do to keep the average right.

I won't haul "cheap freight" but if I go in for $3.00 or better a mile, I'm not gonna be as picky about the rate out as I would if I only made $2.00 a mile going in.

If I can keep my average at $2.00 for all miles run each month (Loaded and Empty) then I feel as though I've averaged it out fairly well.
