You can register with CARB here, they report this will alow flexibilty in compliance that may allow you to continue to run in CA until as late as 2017. Worth a look I suppose. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onrdiesel/reportinginfo.htm
More information here: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onrdiesel/documents/tbuserguide.pdf
Personally to me it feels a lot like registering for your truck's own personal Star of David. There's no registration available for those with trucks older than 1996 that I can see until next year, so I am still in wait-and-see mode on all of this.
For those who want to run into CA

No thanks. There's still 47 states a driver can make a decent living in. Well, might as well lump Oregon in with California, make that 46 states. I was also reading an article today about how the current construction efforts modernizing/widening the Panama Canal to where container ships with 18,000 or 20,000 containers (forget the exact number) could go through as opposed to smaller more narrow ships holding only 8,000 or 10,000 containers (again ??) currently going through will cause west coast ports to lose about a quarter of their business to the east coast because of improved efficiencies. Great news for all those California companies who invested big bucks in green trucks.
scottied67, Mommas_money_maker, flight379 and 3 others Thank this. -
I'll be finished with degree number 2 here in about 6 months so I'm going to be getting out of this crap one way or another. Hopefully the job market is friendly to me or else the officer in the military stuff is looking a little better all the time.
SHC Thanks this. -
After doing the Commiefornia, Oregon, Washington loop for the last year I have to agree with Rollin
JJ works for a small company out of ID and they ran all 379 Petes until recently , they are now getting rid of the 379's and getting 386's and so far he has nothing but trouble with the new trucks!
We purchased a 1997 Freightshaker classic with a very recent rebuild in August and we won't be bothering with CA! -
Nothing west of I-25 that I need to go see anymore. Stopped running west of I-25 in '99 and haven't regretted it one bit.
