I can put it this way -- if I were in the market for a truck, if the specs and condition looked good otherwise, if I were reasonably certain I could tow it home for a not insane amount of money...I might pay $5K for that truck as described.

Your more generous then i am.
No telling whats wrong with the truck but you know something is.or he.wouldnt be wanting to write it off over a $6k repair. Plus at this point with over a million miles youd be stupid not to overhaul the whole motor -
There may or may not be. I'd certainly want to look it over. Worst case, I could've used parts off it for my own 379.
That is, IF I were in the market for another truck. *hides from the wife*
Stetson_trucker Thanks this. -
ha ha Txviking

Anyway I totally understand the diffidence, I am the same way.
Whoever buys this truck will have to ask for more details which I don't have.
I only thought I'd give my brother-in-law a helping hand and ask you guys for advice as he is going through hell and can't afford to wait and fix it.
I will post the Pete for sale and see what happens. In the meantime the guy of the shop where the truck is currently at and gave the quote for the repairs offered him around $6,000 which makes me think - diffidence again - that it's worth more than that. -
Hard to tell value without evaluating the overall condition.
Lot's of trucks for sale that need repair.
You best bet it to sell it at auction.Stetson_trucker Thanks this.
