I can put it this way -- if I were in the market for a truck, if the specs and condition looked good otherwise, if I were reasonably certain I could tow it home for a not insane amount of money...I might pay $5K for that truck as described.

There may or may not be. I'd certainly want to look it over. Worst case, I could've used parts off it for my own 379.

Anyway I totally understand the diffidence, I am the same way.
Whoever buys this truck will have to ask for more details which I don't have.
I only thought I'd give my brother-in-law a helping hand and ask you guys for advice as he is going through hell and can't afford to wait and fix it.
I will post the Pete for sale and see what happens. In the meantime the guy of the shop where the truck is currently at and gave the quote for the repairs offered him around $6,000 which makes me think - diffidence again - that it's worth more than that. -
