I use multiple resources (TTR being my primary source or information) In addition to this site i also check the CSA scores on any given company right at the source- The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) at this site www.csa.fmcsa.dot.gov -all you need is the trucking company's DOT number, found by simply doing a google search for the company's name and dot number. Then go to "carrier search".
Next you can check for any consumer complaints that include shippers, receivers, past and present employees at www.bbb.org or the Better Business Bureau. Just choose the usa site and enter the company's name for a search. Most company's have multiple addresses so instead of choosing the one you "think" it is, just go with the one that highlights "multiple addresses found". I've discovered several complaints on various companies like C.R. England (poor service and billing/collections issues) There you'll find company ratings that range from "A-F"![]()

Remember that for smaller outfits a bad safety rating really does not mean they are a bad company to work for.
Our rating is terrible because we only have 12 trucks and one driver was nailed about 9 times for log violations and a flat trailer tire....He is an idiot and was fired but we now have to live with being on the DOT watch list until the points drop off.
I get my log book checked pretty often at the scale house because of that guy...
It sucks that one driver can bring down a small company.
