Im going to put my Golden Eagle 250 in my 4 - wheeler and put maybe a cobra 25 classic w/ side mic or a uniden pc68xl to drive it. My question is, should I have those radios turned down to 1watt dead key? How long of a jumper between radio and amp should I use? should I use 18 foot between amp and antenna or less?

Use as much coax as needed to connect the radio to the amp. The shorter the better IMO. Do you know if your amp is a high drive amp or a low drive?

1 watt to 2 watt deadkey will do for that old amp.

I've got a Cobra 25 that if I'm not mistaken has a hi/lo pwr switch mod. I can't remember for sure it has been so long since I used it. That would be the best thing to do so you wouldn't sacrifice anything if you didn't want to run the amp.
