truckinbiker, TMC is a great company, if you like them and it seems a good fit for you then take the position. I feel that they offer the best training around for flat beds. But they may not be a good fit for you, only you and you alone can decide that. I am a little confused about the statement that you would really appreciate it if anyone has any negative comments. There will always be unhappy drivers, and this I feel is no way to base YOUR decision on YOUR future. I have done this long enough to know that you need to go to the company that feels right for you, if you do this and ignore everyone else and their "opinions" I think you will find you made the correct decision, whomever it may be with. I promise you that there is not a single company out there that does not have its fair share of disgruntled employees that will happily bash a company. Sometimes this is for legitimate reasons, not every company is a good fit for everyone, but mostly because they were either inexperienced, did not read the fine print so to say, or just plained screwed up and to save face they blame the company.
I know of many drivers that bounce around from company to company just because when they were fueling they spoke to Joe Trucker at the Pilot and he was making .02 a mile more. But then they come to find out that the benefits are poor or a number of other things are wrong. So now off to another company he goes again. Pay is obviously why we all do this, we have to pay that mortgage on the house we are never in you know.
But I personally will take a $.02 cut gratefully to work for a company with a solid record and good equipment (meaning a Pete that is not older than my dog, oh and it must be black....lol.) The hardest part of the start of your new career is going to be the first 3-6 months, and I think it is always best to try and stick it out with the company you chose for at least that long, when all the wrinkles get ironed out you will know if it is a good fit for you.

TMC has a specialized division/Heavy over size, and it will normally be John Deere equipment for the most part. You will need to be with them for some time before you pick those loads though.

Gerjamr, welcome aboard. I am currently doing my over the road training with TMC. So far I am really enjoying it. Orentaion isn't half as bad as everyine makes it out to be. The only really hard part was durring the classroom part...was sitting in the classroom the whole day. And the only crappy part about load securment was the heat in the building. You shouldn't have a long wait if any to get accepted by TMC. I applied when I was going to school and haden't even gotten my CDL yet and I was accepted. I only have 3 weeks left andI will have my own truck. Happy I decieded to come here.

Not required...depends on the distance and hours remaining...they will not allow you to run illegal.

Made over 50K my first year, i think they still use my paystub as recruitment material...Its as they say, wheels not turning, your not earning....i am a company driver Longhaul division...

I think the load per day is for the linehaulers. 5 loads in a week is what i've been hearing.

There was another posting the other day about the 5 loads .... they were saying that is typical on the REGIONAL routes .... kind of hard to do 5 loads in longhaul if you have to run a distance .... it all depends on the miles between stops and how many you have to do

:smt075Hey everyone I am a new grad going to TMC! I found their recruting staff to be quite helpfull and things went very smooth for me. I have other friends from local tech school that went before me I waited and researched for a while. My freinds are 50% complete with training and said they love it. I have been looking at TMC before I even decided to get cdl. They were my first choice and I am glad I was excepted.///// I have a little driving background driving a wrecker and rollback, In SC no cdl required. I found that driving is what you make of it with any company. I have seen all sorts of drivers come and go. Seems like their story is always the same "company screwed me... " well my experience tells me the same company was great for me. Some people are never a good match for any job and they always seem to be the squeekiest wheel. Go with your gut STICK IT OUT, give wichever company you choose at least a year and get your experience and things should turn out gR8!!! We are all in it for the almighty dollar even the dispatcher and they make money when you make money take the good with the bad and let law of averages play out. If you loose the the first hand at poker and you get up and leave the table you just walked away a looser. I have read some posts that would indicate that TMC would try and make you falsify logs and require minimum loads per week but the post I read spoke of a trainer in berth sleeping my question to him would be if there were 2 drivers in truck why would there be any reason at all to falsify log? Just does not add up to me. Sounds like someone just is not cut out for this kind of work. They need no touch freight on dedicated route in an automatic. Good Luck Everyone !!! Hope to see ya on the road, not in the grass!!

I have another 2 weeks left of trucking classes and then I'll take the road test and hopefully get the CDL A license. I heard many good things about TMC such as decent pay and typical work schedule of Mon - Fri. However there is one negative thing I heard about TMC. That is the intense training program. Everyone is saying only a small about of TMC recruits make it through the program. One guy said only 15 out 50 passed their program. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
