My two cents on the Sleep Apnea BS........................

As long as we are forced to work irregular hours, (i.e. being awake all day waiting for a load then being forced to run all night to get it there) I believe that poses more of a danger of falling asleep at the wheel than any apnea BS ever could!

As far as the other crap that goes on here, the BIGGEST problem with JBS is the load planning! Example, today here I sit after being off all weekend with no preplan! Somebody in Greeley please explain to me why? I set me PTA for this morning back on Thursday so I should have been planned on a load by Friday!

I am 60 miles from a Pilgrims plant, IMHO everytime I come home I should drop my empty at the plant and pick up a loaded trailer on Monday morning! Why is that so hard to do?........Oh that's right, that would involve planning and thinking logically!

More short hauls but always have another PP, so I drop hook and head off again , what good is a long Jbs run to get there a day early, wait a day after for a load ?
I just know my net pay for the month for my total time spent is higher.
If you like to play video games in your bunk for no pay in a pretty truck go with Jbs!

Yeap sure did. A few people understand and get it. Trucking isn't a 9-5 kind of job. Since being home I goto bed around 11pm and usually up by 7am, everyday. And I feel fine never tired. I can even do one better. There was one time at jbs, when I took my 10 hour nap got up drove for like 2 hrs made my delivery and then was told to goto a truckstop and take another 10hr break so I could run thru the night. And why did that happen? They had a load that was suppose to be on a team but no team around to take the load. So I driver picked it up in colorado, dropped it to me in kansas city area, I took it to almost columbus ohio then relayed again to another driver. So yea that was piss poor planning. Now I think that was the greatest risk of a accident. Sleep all night be up for a few hours then force yourself into sleep again. Jbs and the government needs to know trucking isn't a 9-5 job. I think they're not gonna stop till they get it close to that.

So true. Like I said before the office clocks in and clocks out everyday. They have no clue about clocking in at 0900 01/01/12 and clocking out at 2200 01/22/12.

What I would like to know is this?
How many office people, from the fleet managers to load planners, to recruiting or anyone else in the office would clock in for 8 hrs a day but only get paid for 4 hrs?
But yet no one in that office seems to not have a issue forcing the driver to do it. I think that's the biggest scam going. I believe that when your away from home, all your time should be paid. Of course minus the time your taking your 10 hour nap. But anything beyond that the driver should be paid. I find it funny that when you piss a major complaint then someone will offer a little more pay. So that shows that they can pay, but they just don't want too. As it would create a lower profit. Its a shame that the company is concerned about there bottom line, which I understand they should. But not at the cost of the driver. Without a driver you have no company. Bottom line no one in the office works for 4 hrs for free so why should a driver. Imagine working in a fast food place and your told yea where gonna give you 8 hrs a day. But where only gonna pay you for 4 hrs, that fast food place would be out of business before they even knew it. But yet in trucking everyone just lays down and take the boning. What a shame.

Well once again I will say welcome back to the forums. I can and will get another job. And it will be much better paying then jbs. As I said you like to sit and sit and wait and wait more power to you. You think jbs is the best trucking job you have ever had, then your a sorry lost less soul my friend. But like I said I know food has to get from point a to point b and someones gotta do it. And that's where you come into play as well as the new drivers. Its just not for me. There is way too much downtime that goes unpaid. This is my 2nd reefer job and it will be my last reefer job. I personally don't know how you all put up with the wasted time and not be paid. But I guess you like working for free, that's the only thing I can think of is you like to work for free. Not me. And more power to you. Its amazing that I'm suppose to be happy with everything that goes on in reefer work. But yet when I voice my opinion I get bashed on. Just like reefers isn't for me due to the lack of fair pay for the work put in. As working on tankers isn't for everyone either. So more power to you and you reefers. Not for me. I like being paid for my time, and I will not apologize for that.
    Sorry.

I have been hired by JBS, but sure dont need any drama. I'm the sole supporter of my wife and 17 year old daughter. After seeing this, I may just stay where I am. Thanks for the info.

Very true every company has its issues, but jbs seems to have a lot more then other companies. My complaints on jbs is very simple.
    1) Detention= 4 hrs for free is a joke
2)Every 2 week pay cycle= if you have a bad pay cycle takes a month to get back on track.
    3) All the "bonus" just means they can afford to pay more
4)And the lack of getting raises. I'm at my max of .40 per mile, and that's a joke as well.
    5) Most weeks the lack of miles, and all the sitting and waiting for no pay.
Those are my own personal issues with jbs. Others will call it whining but I call it a annoyance. As if they truly wanted to be the best then they gotta fix a few things.
