Yeah, i prefer to stay out of NYC and the burroughs if at all possible if i can get on with prime, i will try to stay more towards the midwest or westcoast as much as i can. i don't mind runin the ne except for NYC and the burroughs. NYS i don't mind. New York State(NYS)
DragonTamerBrat Thanks this. -
You go where they send you. JCW has spent the majority of his time on the east side of the Mississippi.
-
How many times has JCW been to new york city and the burroughs since he started solo?
-
4 years and I've never had a delivery closer than across the river in NJ.
What you all should worry about is Chicago. 100 times more likely to get sent downtown there than NYC. I'm not talking Chicago burbs, I'm talking practically downtown.
There are elevated trains with some underpasses under 13'6"
Crazy directions.
I've been down there at least a dozen times.
Ask Emton about the "urban entrepreneur" on a bike that was flagging us down in the middle of the night moments before we were lost. Eventually we had to talk to him when we were LOST. He knew exactly where we were headed, guided us into an easy route for a near straight back into the dock.
He vigoursly campaigned for a tip. Unfortunately Emton only had a 5 spot, me... No cash. He sweet talked me out of the contents of my change cup, and a plastic bag for him to carry it in.
I was appreciative, but was really just happy to be rid of the guy.
He knew we'd be lost. He said there were a couple Prime trucks a week that roll through and get lost every week. -
He pulls a 53' reefer. He's gone over the GWB, but doesn't go in.

I have been in the city of chicago, still not as bad as new york. You just have to find the right street to go down to get pass the overpasses, but i would rather have someone show me that knows a good route for trucks to get around the city without topping your truck or trailer. I would kick them a few dollars in laundry money to get me to my delivery. After all the guy is not trying to stick you up, he's trying to hustle a little money for his services.
And besides once he show you the first time you would no longer need his services
-
Thank you.

I hate NYC. Been through it twice. Once as a trainee, and once solo carrying 3 15,000 pound coils.
Got to get my first winter driving experience goin down I80 in Wyoming with my coils from hell. Should be good weather the rest of the way into hell, I mean Cali. These coils are not much fun... -
Heads Up:
If you are taking I80 into Oakland there is a toll bridge in Vallejo. I'm pretty sure you only pay in one direction. I'm not sure which direction. Your EZPass isn't compatible with CA's "FastTrac"
The I680 bridge is toll'd going West only (NW really). I know this for sure, as I paid it 3 times last week while visiting my sister.
