The only legal way to do it, but probably a company rule against it would be to drop the trailer and park next to it before you go on break. Then when the other driver gets there he does the same and picks your trailer up. After your break you go pk his trailer up and wait for a assignment or hit the road. Keeping your hours, but if it is a empty wagon then you will be at the bottom of the dispatch list so it is a no win situation unless you are the only truck in the area


As you know in the real world at a busy truckstop this would be playing with fire and it is possible that the trailer would be towed or stolen.

And of course common sense would have to come into play as your DM could make a note that you are empty and will have full hours back at xx : xx, so the load planners could get you a assignment before you actually punched in your repower complete macro This would take common sense!! which is lacking at most large trucking companies

 

Let that trailer get stolen and then they'll blame the driver! LOL, mad drivers...... everywhere! LOL!

 

got msg on qualcom yesterday that i needed to talk to my dm b4 i get moved to g2. so i call n they say i am just short of the miles needed n i need to be more dilligent about asking for repowers n preplans...lol. i have never been more than 12 hrs ahead of a load n not put in a repower rqst. nor have i ever been early on delv time n not rqst a preplan. so here in fountain co, 18 hrs early put in repower rqst yesterday n got the rare call from my dm tells me to pull over 5 hrs shy of final n he will call me back in 30 min. 1.5 hrs later i call him n his response is well im lookin for something that wont have you sitting for hours...lol , ya mean like i am right now? so he says go ahead n keep rolling on this one. so i arrive get parked n take my break. get checked in 2 hrs early this morn am empty at time of appt. put in empty call followed by a freeform request for a preplan pls!!!! been 4 hrs now n not a peep from the qualcom! looks like the new system still has some kinks to work out?

Gave me a load this morning from Durant,OK to Rogersville then to Mass.... good load, 3 days to do it with a total of 1560 miles. Sweet! So I fuel 80 gallons and get rolling twords it. I then get a message of my new delivery time.......... and date, 2 days after the load assgmnt originally stated. NOPE! not gonna happen. "Oh, well we will repower you" LMAO! you don't even repower me when you need to, but now you're going to when I want you to? LOL, yeah hide and watch me pick it up...... so you think. I'm ticked! But I'm tired and going to bed, turned off phone and qualcomm.

 

Yeah buddy, the fun I could have with this comment! But I think the kinks are not so much in the system and the people sitting in the chairs behind the system. Its like my 5 year old ran out to the shop and decided to grab power tools and butcher stuff ....... randomly.

I got a call from my DM today saying that everyone (maybe just his drivers) was getting the speech about truck stop security.

Seems that one of his drivers parked at a truckstop and left the truck there over night. Found the truck in the middle of the parking lot and the trailer with a Tyson load was gone.

 

Yep...happened in FL. Everyone is supposedly getting that speech on orders straight from the top. I got my speech as well. Got this load to N. Platte this afternoon, but Wally World won't take it early. A couple of drivers on wx shutdown here at the hook due to high winds. My DM told me he is eying a load from Grand Island to Laredo for me since I have to be in El Paso next Fri to pick my wife up from the airport there. Hopefully I can get it tomorrow. I really hope that this sitting will come to an end soon.
