I would like the opinion of you guys yet again. Some of you may remember that I had a reckless driving on my record. I was taking a kid home in my car who went into a seizure. I ran a red light to get him to the hospital that was 1.9 miles away. You folks told me to get this fixed before I moved forward with my career. I did what you said and The solicitor reduced it to failing to obey a traffic signal.
So here I am with that issue cleared up and I need to know what to do. I called Maverick back and they said that everything is now fine and they can get me to there school in about 5 weeks. Schneider said they can get me to there school on the 6th of October and I would drive there Bulk Tanker trucks. I also put in a app. with Driver Resource. They said so far they can get me with P.A.M and USA and I would start training in about the next 2 weeks. I ask now ask you out of those what do I do. I do need to start working ASAP. My job that I have now is seasonal and is ending next week so I need to move and move fast. I don't want to screw up but am in a hurry. I look forward to hearing from you folks real soon.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Way to go on getting that cleared up
I remember your post. I'm sure there are several who can answer your other questions.
Good Luck! -
Thank the Lord. They still gave me 4 points and the cop is a jerk but I can go to the local tech school and get the 4 points back!

Of the ones you mentioned, and if you want to pull flatbeds, Maverick is probably the best.
I know 2 guys who drive for Maverick and are very happy there. I certainly understand the need to get work, but if you can hold out for Maverick I think you would be happier there.
Just my 2 cents worth,
Good luck

Yeah it is a time issue for sure. How hard is it to do all the tarping and securing on a flatbed? Does it take so much time that you loose money?

Here is the question to ask your self. Would it be better to wait a little longer and get in with a top notch outfit or get started quicker and take your chances on what the outcome will be? I would scratch pam and usa off the list. Research and see what you come up with. As a newbie the odds are stacked against you as it is. Many bail before they learn the ropes. Get in with a less than desireable outfit and the odds go up on bailing. Good luck; keep us posted! -
I understand what you mean. The issue is if I wait for Maverick then I am looking at 5 weeks before they can get me there then 3 weeks of training. Then one week of work before I would see the first dime. That is 9 weeks from now with NO MONEY. I have a wife and three kids and I don't have a savings that will support that time off. I am tempted to go with Schneider and stick it out a year if It sucks.

Your avg at snidey your 1st year will be about $30.000- 40 compared to mav's avg of new drivers making over $52.500 your 1st year. Now throw in getting home on weekends to getting home every 2 to 4 weeks. -
I know what I am saying when i ask this but.......Schneider says that on the bulk end of it they get you home every 10 days. I also have read that Mavericks home every weekend is not the whole weekend. One fellow said that he will get in on a Sat. then leave back Sunday afternoon. I don't know how all this stuff really pans out in the real world. I have read so much on this web site and I am starting to wonder what to believe. There are some that say one company is the worst thing ever then the next post you read that the same company runs all the trucks in heaven. SO CONFUSING!
-
Most companies consider a weekend home a 34 restart. I got in at 3 am this friday. I deliver in WI monday morning. I have gotten in on a thursday and del on a mon a couple times. I usually get in fri afternoon and del mon. Last week I got in late midnite fri nite and del mon morning. One weekend I did not get in, but had a long weekend the next week.
