First i want to say inwas trained on dedicated not otr and we did things alot diffrent than otr, so im nervous and confused rookie at some things. I was just issued my truck yesterday around 8:30 am and have been sitting ever since. They sent me a preassign yesterday, the load was ready yesterday at 8am and I drop 1/30 8:30am, how long does it take them to dispatch me?
Also i don't have any trip sheets or those barcode things, will i be able to make this run without those and pick some up at a terminal later? Or will this Arnold terminal have some for me?

Call your dispatcher/fleet Manager. Or call your trainer and see what he says. I'm being trained on a dedicated as well. So I am interested to see what happens to you. :)

I call fleet manager after waiting 20 mins for a answer, I asked her how long does it normally take and she said "we can't dispatch you yet....thanks and have a good day" and hung up....and I was about to ask her about the trip paks. I don't want to bother my trainer quite yet, he will be helping and attending a wedding today.

I have another question.my trainer really never sent a msg(mac11?). I figure it will be alot easier to send a msg than wait 20 mins on the phone for a short answer.
If I want to send my dispatcher something do I just type in dispatcher in the "to" area? And my fm name if I wanted to send him a msg?

Dude you NEED to call your DM or(FM and tell him you need more training, this is all stuff your trainer shouls have showed you. I don,t think your ready to be on a truckon your own yet, my opinion only, but this questions is your trainers job.

You really need to go back out with another trainer, someone who is either not dedicated or one who will teach you what you need to know. I am a Trainer and my students start off learning how to use the DT the very first day.

You most definitely need the cover sheets and barcode stickers so you can send in your trip info to get paid. Your trainer should have made sure you had those.

To send a message, you can just put DISP in the "to" spot....for anyone else you need their email address....usually the first initial and then last name.

It makes me wonder about some of these so called trainers, they do little more then ride along with a trainee and collect extra money, companys need to make sure a trainer knows how to train, theres more to driving then turning a wheel.

Thanks musicgal! My trainer only used Mac 49 and 5, everything else we ignored, we made more calls than actually using the dt. I really don't understand why they send otr students out with dedicated drivers.

That's because dedicated drivers are the only ones who will do it for no money...LOL

When I was at Tunnel Hill, you go to the Guard Shack to get your trip sheets and stickers. They should also give you a pack of door seals too. If you are at another terminal, try the guard shack.

I'm at the Arnold terminal. I jst pick up the cover sheets and barcodes. I didn't see any usx door seals all were arnolds.

I was dispatched about a hour ago and went to grab my trailer from here and I see a big orange sticker says out of service. Now I gotta play the waiting again...total hrs sitting 30 and counting. I guess this is the so called "trucking life"
