Yeah that's mostly how I see them going down the road. Have seen em with the boom forward on steps, probably because of the boom length and trying to get some weight off the drives, hard to tell. At least I could use the gauges to figure it out if need be.

I am running on my own, been out too long to run for someone else. Should have my equipment almost completely paid and a reasonable size maint fund to start. I have the insurance lined up and my authority is still active from the 1990's. Just finished selling my business and I missed the road, so come March/April I will have to have my equipment ready to go. Just need to purchase said equipment. Any help from you guys on the RGN side would help a ton.

If you are going to heavy haul you should have the proper equipment to do the job and not sneaking around illegal, just another form of rate cutting.................

I will for sure. Running up to 120k on the 3 axle tractor/trailer depending on state is ok by me, I ran B train in the northwest for a while at 105.5k I know the permits are expensive, just not sure about very wide or very tall to get started.
You run mechanical, do you like this over hyd or do run it to increase the amount of 5 axle legal freight you can haul?
Is it difficult to figure out the ins/outs of a mechanical RGN? -
But are easy to operate... -

they just look complicated vs Hyd .
As a guy new to RGNs, Hyd seem like they would be easier, especially to adjust deck height and pick up.
With the extra weight for the Hyd and self contained seems like you would be too heavy for the legal double drop loads
