This morning, got msg on QC about bad accident on I-35 in MO and 3 hrs delay.... This evening got sad QC msg.... it was one of "our" trucks.... One of the drivers died in that crash this morning and his team partner is in critical condition.:biggrin_25513: The driver who died was an experienced driver who joined the company few weeks ago... Found a very short article online...

    http://stjoechannel.com/fulltext?nxd_id=255412

It says it was head on collision between two tractor-trailers.... :biggrin_2555: one crossed the median, hitting a second one about 1:10 a.m. just north of Cameron in MO (exact location:Southbound I-35 At The 61mm / 6 Miles North Of Cameron).
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said both trucks burned to their frames. An estimated 600 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into the ditch along the interstate.

Thanks for the link, Rocks. I heard about this on the KC news this morning, but they didn't have many details. Said it was a crossover accident between 2 semis, and 1 was killed. My condolences to the family and friends of the driver, and prayers go out to partner.

If it's any consolation, the hospital he was taken to is the BEST, in my opinion. That's where my loved one was taken when they had their heart attack and surgery.

Thank you very much Teddy_bear.... for posting the article. Was looking at the pictures.... huge destruction... :biggrin_25513: Article doesn't give companies names and trucks were totally destroyed. But name of Covenant driver involved matches what company gave via QC. Looks like one of the trailers was Estes. Covenant has an Estes account, they pull double Estes trailers... Indeed, very sad to see these accidents on the road. This morning also saw a truck that rolled over a ramp on I-29 South in MO. It looks like the truck fell off the ramp on the hwy and rolled a couple times.... the cabin was all destroyed... My prayers with all drivers and families of drivers involved.

600 gallon pool of diesel and two trucks and trailers splashed with diesel and a ton of fuel for the fire, they are lucky they didn't instantly burn to death.

rip driver. sad to hear this happen.

I went by it this morning. There was no trace of the trucks but they had that pool dammed off with sand and a county truck of some kind sitting there. It looked like there was some fire but they contained it pretty well.

If I knew that was big pool of diesel I'd have stopped and offered to clean it up myself. Filter it right back into my tanks.

Weather was not friendly in the KC area. I saw where some idiot had pulled out in front of a school bus on 50 west and they both ended up in the ditch while another car hit the back of the bus. Then there was another school bus wreck on the news.

Some cars like Mercedes and BMW have technology that determines if the driver is drowsy. This might be beneficial in trucks considering this driver who crossed the median might have fallen asleep.

We have too much technology in trucks already . From what I understand this technology only alerts the driver . It might also contact dispatch but nothing will stop an ignorant driver running fatigued .
