If hired on by a company, after a reasonable amount of time of course, is there the possibility of switching from OTR to regional or dedicated?
Too many pre-hires, hows a person to choose?!

Well, thank you all very much for all of your input and advice. Looks like it just further backed up my resolve to go ahead and commit to SNI. I'm sure I will be back with more questions, but for me it is time to get headed to bed.
To all hitting the road, Good Morning!

Depends on the company
Probably. If you are interested in Regional, some places may hire you on specifically for it. Some
May require you to "prove" yourself on National first. Just depends on particular company policy. -
I actually started with SNI straight from school to a dedicated Home Depot account and my buddy went to the Ford account. I know many people that went straight to the dedicated account straight from school - so I guess its possible even if people tell you its not.

My cdl school instructor was a flatbedder and she is 5' 2" and is thin. She is talking about going back to flatbedding. Says she will never pull a van again.
-
Flatbedding has some strange mental hold on a person. I know a van would be cleaner, less manual labor, and more miles, but I can't do it. Flatbed won't let go!

Go to SNI website and search through the jobs listed for your area. They DO take inexeperienced for dedicated , just depends on th eaccount. You can apply for any job that lists your qualifications. I would have taken a 5/2 walmart dedicated but I dont like walmart!! so I wasnt too keen on hauling their stuff!!

Instead I'm on a 6on 3off schedule thats starting to work well. -
I was on the Home depot account, 5on/2off - but I was home pretty much every day passing by for about an hour to grab some food or shower. Now that I got divorced, I signed up for the 11 western OTR, but been staying in the midwest and south (I hate Cali). DBL is pretty flexible so it works out well and I can go see the places I want and never seen before. -
I appreciate all of the responses and take all of them in to account.
As for the female flatbedders...congrats, carry on, your a braver woman than I
I would not term my self a coward by any means, but I tend to be pretty cautious with my person. I have seen/heard too many things in my short time on this planet. Things show absolutley no sign of getting any better...ever.
One thing is for certain, I no longer scowl and cuss the trucks under my breath as I pass by them. Gaining a very healthy respect for the ranks.
I once thought* that some butt head trucker had run me off the road into some concrete dividers (construction zone) with my little girl in the car. I now know, that it was my fault and not his, not much he could have done short of running the risk of flipping his truck. I'm learning a lot in this course and on this forum and a good 80% of it has nothing to do with actually driving the truck. I was once told that of the average 72 accidents per day involving 18 wheelers a full 3/4 of them (!) are the result of the "4wheeler" and not the trucker. Interesting statistic that.
You guys are great, very entertaining and informative.
Off to school I go....more backing up! Yay...*NTSThe Challenger and 123456 Thank this.
