Belive me, emission regulations after the EPA2005 and Euro-IV cant improve the situation yet. Introducing EPA2012 and Euro-6 is the political issue now. The only way is clear urban transport. And LA is not so bad, I've been to Cairo last year, it is the real nightmare. and really bad are Alchevsk, Ukraine, and Chelabinsk Russia.

In Ontario we have Drive clean emission tests. They place a measuring device in your tail pipe and run the truck extensively while taking readings. I'll be due for my first since installing my BD soon , and I won't return it to stock unless I need to before the test to see..

According to the sales guy at BD I should have no issues passing the test with the BD. He actually claims an improvement.

The tips of my stacks stay way cleaner than pre BD and my oil samples are very clean.

Because it's surrounded by mountains and sits in a bowl. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why the haze never leaves - and never will no matter what they do - short of bulldozing the mountains level.

That must also be smoke test because NOx test is out of budget of any government and it must be made on the dyno.

NOx testing will not be used, becouse all new trucks got built in NOx sensors

Better yet, you could bulldoze all the freeways and turn them into bicycle paths and force people to commute with either rickshaws or bicycles, which of course are only built by Amish people in hand powered factories.

You could also make an EPA Burrito tax, which would make a trip to Taco Bell cost $1400 and we could bolt on flatulence sensors on anyone over 275lbs. and have them pay a "pooter tax"

Then, Mr. Gift (in another thread here) wouldn't feel the burning need to roll his garbage can 14 extra feet down the street, so the truck makes one less stop, thereby making him feel that somewhere, an endangered Antarctic Penguin isn't getting sunburned by that oh, so widening hole in the Ozone layer.

I'll leave that one alone, since Mr. rollin coal covered it much simpler than I would have.

Another tree fell in the rainforest, and my moonbat phone line just rang, so I have to catch the next flight on my Concorde Jet ( that runs on McDonalds fryer grease, so relax) I used to try and hug black soot filled stacks on trucks, but kept burning my hands, and that makes even more pollution, because of the ambulance rides and electricity the hospitals use.

I think I'll just stick to sending Kurt a PM the next time I want a technical question answered, and leave the pictures of LA alone. :biggrin_25524:

Yes and they are very easy to cheat, but still quite expensive, cheater box costs about 1500 euros here, some can be programmed which is usually a little bit cheaper.

Really, it doesn't take a genius. In NYC it's believed that smog isn't present to the extent as LA because of central park. Wind patterns change which is why there are good days and bad days, bowl or not. The valley is more of a bowl than LA. Never is a long time, there are actually buildings that eat smog. Also if LA were to have a equivalent of a central park that would help as well. The problem isn't necessarily the "bowl", the problem is they are creating more emissions that can't be naturally or artificially removed. Which brings me back to my point "GENIUS".

ENR--how do you like your BD? What do you have it on? How long have you had it?
