And at UPS, you will start in the "sort", loading and unloading trucks part time. Then you bid full time. Then it's usually several years in a package car (I spent 7 years in a "Brown Beetle" running my rear end off), but package cars pay well. THEN if you have enough seniority you bid what ever is available. Air ramp, feeder, team, and work your way up from that. Took me close to 11 years to get a good feeder bid. Then it's get better as the years go by. When I retired 3 years ago, I had 31 years at UPS. My co workers were glad my Phoenix/Tucson/Sierra Vista bid finally opened up. Ran it for 7 years, off every Friday/Sat/Sun. UPS is a long term gig, with a bunch of micromanagement. But, I love my IBT pension check.

thanks yea i've applied there and coke like 10 times never even a call back, most likely because i wasnt 21 at the time. They're not union here if i remember right but the pay is good. I have no interest in side loader work, but i'll do the big truck stuff (local of course). I'll have to send them another app when i get the chance.

Benton runs junk equipment.
Conway Freight busy season is coming up. Said theyre expecting an uptick in freight. If youre looking for linehaul out of Greensboro, forget it, guy told me they had a waiting list. I know raleigh was looking for drivers as well.
OD is good too, Im thinking of jumping ship and going over there. I might be a sicko. but i dont mind being on a forklift.
While at conway in a little over 5 months I made close to 30K gross, and thats including slow days sitting at home. I hustled though, sneaked in OT when possible and I usually worked inbound on saturdays as well.
My recommendation would be UPS Frt,Fedex frt, Conway frt, Old Dominion, Pitt Ohio and estes. Each has their little quirks but overall good companies.
I know in the south, you could try Averitt Express, Southeastern Freight lines and Saia Motor Express. You have experience, so start knocking on some doors brother. Good luckAmerican-Trucker Thanks this. -
Also A/T you could try fedex ground as they do linehaul too. But that depends on finding a good contractor to work for and gives some kind of benefits. FDX grnd is all o/O. When I called they were williing to take 6 monthsof experience and an accreditted truck driving school.Im still pretty new at the LTL stuff, but if you have any questions I can point you in the right direction
American-Trucker Thanks this. -
you gonna start on the bottom at any ltl company and the pay will suck but will pick with up every year or so and the sooner you get in the better you ll be off later on, you have to look at the big picture long run not whats at the moment i hate how much i make right now but i know eventually i ll get to what i want, gotta pay my dues, and like century class mentioned ltl season is about to start so the companies will start hiring
