What didn't work out? No need to spill secrets but I'll (hopefully) be one of those trainees this time next week so anything you can share on what NOT to do would help.

I know common sense prevails but to get kicked off a truck (rather than the other way around) makes one want to prepare to avoid any clashes.:biggrin_25517:

That's funny ORD!!! We kid, we kid. It's all in fun. We understand that you and DA are road buddies and most of us are probably jealous. :biggrin_25514: Either way, we know you are all using handsfree devices because when we see ya in Sprimo or SLC you are STILL wearing your trucker's crown on your head like you are expecting the most important phone call in the world. Maybe not, but I just wanted to get that in here for the fools that do that:biggrin_2559:. I was just in Ogallala two days ago. Nice place.

PS- you guys can call me anytime ! ! ! :biggrin_2553:

That place is awesome for breakfast too. It's much cheaper than the Truck stops.

Came off vacation Monday and got a load picking up that night in Champaign, IL after running to Logansport, IN for an mt. Didn't get loaded until 0130 (2100 appt) and it was way tail heavy. Could not rework it 'til 0700, which they finished at 1200. Rolled into PA. that night and the 90 in Bethlehem at 1700 on Wednesday. Would not let me drop until Thursday at 0500. That put a kink in my pp picking up in Bristol, PA and going to Louisville, but assured FM I could do drop in the AM and still make 1030 appt on Friday.

Brain kicked in and started working in the AM when I realized this was prolly a hazmat and I would be forced to take The Official Ironpony (not yet memorial) Goat Trail instead of the turnpike. Ran the numbers and told FM I'd know for sure about on time delivery after I got across I-68 and stopped for the night, and that, yes, this would be before he went home.

Bit of traffic in Philly, then west-bound and hammer down. Of course this meant about 25 MPH across most of MD! Stopped for the evening at the Jane Lew on I-79 and informed FM it would be close (20 min. window), but I can do it if you'll advance me the money to fuel here. He did.

Had 15 mins in the bank when I crossed the weigh station in Morehead, KY and got pulled in for inspection. Did this same run back in 08/10 and got a Level I (broke my DOT cherry) from the same officer that, thankfully, only did a Level III this time. In and out in 15 mins and hauled ashes to the 90. Checked in at 1025.

Pulling into the Curtis Power Wash get a message to go to Hickory, KY, load info to follow. Get washed out and it's west-bound and hammer down again. Pull into the Calvert City Love's, throw sixty dollars at the girl, and yell "PUMP 19!" as I run out the door. Shut down Ms. E-logs on Poultry Lane outside Pilgrim's plant at 1750 with a minute left on the 14 .

Tell me it'll prolly be 0200 before they load. No problem, I need to sleep. Yard jockey wakes me at 2030 and gives me door assignment. Backing in when he comes by and tells me he's sorry he woke me up, it was the other Prime truck he needs in this door!
(The following exchange is unsuitable for sensitive readers and has been redacted.)

Loaded and on the road at 0900. Decided to take a right at I-70 instead of following mac-27 routing up through the lake effect storm in NW Indiana. Arrived last night for a 0900 appt this morning at Evan's Food Service in Swartz Creek, MI, which is, of course, closed on Sunday.
