I know Hot Shotters in duallys carry a logbook but are they also bound by the same HOS requirements as big trucks? 11 & 14 hour rule with the 70 in 8 days? Thanks.

Yes , same HOS as everybody else . The truck better have a DOT inspection with all required equipment (triangles , fire extinguisher , etc. )also .
-
Also keep ALL your motel/hotel receipts.
-
That's just common sense . All expense receipts should be kept for tax purposes .
-
No need to keep them. You can use standard meal allowance and motel allowance. Motel one is based on area you're in.
I find standard allowances more than enough so why make it hard?
Log book proves you're there where you claim.
I never stay in motels or hotels unless wife comes. I worry about bedbugs. -
You'll be shock how many people don't have it and don't forget about the newbies who are clueless and don't know what they are doing.

My neighbor used to do hotshot, and he had to keep all his motel reciepts in case he got DOTed. Had to have the reciepts to prove he wasn't sleeping in the truck, since there's no sleeper berth.
-
i also drive hot shot 3500 .keep all receipts and follow hos rules as big trucks .as a matter of fact i got pulled in missippi this week end for another level 1 inspection.though not 1 time did ant dot officials ask for my receipts for motels in 3 inspections in 3 months.they just pick on us hot shotters.

You don't have to produce no receipts thats a lie they try and tell.
You don't even have to talk to them if your writing is legiable. -
Try three in a week? I bet they didn't get under your truck or trailer either did they? 10 minute level ones what a joke.
