A driver passed them on to me on here and was wondering if they were any good as far as work. Prices seem reasonable. I'm looking at a cobra 29 w/ RFX75 added say it nets 100W.
sparkyscbshack are they good?

He good for a normal peak and tune. No cobra 29 is going to do 100 watts without a kicker.

If I understand right its an internal amp...I know 29s peak round 4-5 stock.
-
RXF 75 is a external Amp that bolts on the back of the radio and replaces the finals on the inside...And on a Cobra 29 it will do about 100w's...
If your looking for a radio that does around 100w's, getting the Cobra 29 with a RFX 75 on the back is the best way to go...A Export 10 Meter radio like the new General HP that does 100w's will cost you allot more, or any other Export radio for as that go's that does anywhere near 100w's is going to coast more than a Cobra 29 with the RFX 75...
Best thing about the RFX 75, is since it's on the back of the radio, and not inside like the old "stinger boards" were, all the heat build up is on the back of the unit, and not inside... -
I said internal but that's what I meant lol. I think you were the 1 that suggested sparkys.
As for the price I've seen what you mean I was looking at an export doin 150W @ $350. The 29 is $168. 50w aint worth that much difference to me. I just want a good set up thatll get some good distance coming and going.
I was using my bosses stock 29 and had to switch trucks for a wk and took the CB out of mine but the loaner didn't have wires or hookups so I put it in the bunk. Just got my truck back and tried hooking back up and it pops fuses soon as I connect the CB. Sounds like its fried or polarity messedup idk. Hate havin to tell him tomorrow. So now I'm using and OLD 19 just want a lil more. My dad gave me the 19 when I started driving 3 yrs ago as a backup. Lol sad to say it has out done any other CB I've used. I can get 3-4 miles loud n proud.
Thanks for the input. -
It's an external amp bolted to the back of the unit. I have one that seems to do pretty well.
-
Just a thought does it mess with the meter? I know 29s are bad for havin to calibrate least once a wk.
So its a decent add on and sparky does a good job? -
Mine seems to stay set. I need to get some grounded antennae installed properly but we're about to get a different truck so I've been waiting on that.
-
Heard that. Guess I've been luck never had to do any work there mines always been power/ground issues inside. For now I'm just running a single antenna if something doesn't change my mind about sparkys and this 29 ill go to doubles.
-
There good, but don't expect to get them on the phone. Not tell the get there call center operational.Iv spent over 500 dollars there in the last few weeks and it's all top quality work. As fare as the amp buy a little kick and tell sparkys what you have in mind.
