    I have HAD IT with the company I work for! I was hired as a REGIONAL driver was supposed to be 1 week out 2 days at home or 2 weeks out and 3 days home. For the last year that HAS NOT happened, I am OTR, gone 21 days at a time or more. IF I can get home after a week and want an extra day off (over 2) I get told "you dont have enough time" "you cant take more days off". December I was promised a DEDICATED run, could possibly be home every night depending on where you run out of time at, and OFF weekends. Was supposed to start January... Oh now freight is slow and it will be FEB... Now its FEB and frienght might pick up in MARCH so wait until then. I MOVED to this location to do this "dedicated" job! Moved as in moved to a new state! :biggrin_25510: Renting a storage unit in my old state and my wife is living out of a motel in the new state. I can go on and on about all the BS that has gone on. My question is this.... Their truck is parked at one of THEIR operations areas, lots of their trucks are parked there and their empty trailers are there too... Kind of a hub area for their day cab drivers. NO OFFICE THERE, just parking/storage area. What can a company do to me if I call them up and tell them their truck is there (they know its parked there) and I am DONE.. Basically quit on the spot???

    They can ruin any chance of getting a new job...Just ask them if it's alright to leave it there...Telling them may have them put an "abondoned" on your DAC whether you abandoned it or not if they're the spiteful type...CYA...

    Under no circumstances should you abandon the truck. My advice is: if you like driving, (and judging by the post, you do like the job, not the BS), start filling out applications to other companies and hope one calls you and makes an offer you and your family can live with. But don't just leave the truck without your current company knowing about it. And by all means, COVER YOUR ARSE! Take pictures of the truck, have someone sign off saying the truck is indeed at the agreed location and acceptable, and if you have a communication system such as Qualcomm, type a message saying where the truck is and who signed off on it, send it, and take a picture of it (the message).

    COVER YOUR ARSE is a big mantra on this forum. If you abide by that, you'll be okay. Hopefully, your next job will be better than the one you have now. Good luck, man!

    Give them proper notice to avoid a bad DAC report. They however will Likely will fire you on the spot , so be prepared.

    Do you have another job lined up or at least looking , might want to bide your time to see whats out there before you tell them your quitting.

    Quit the right way. With notice and truck turned in. Take pics of truck inside and out when turned in. Now, I don't know your company but it almost sounds like a bait and switch. Get you in with promise of regional, local, or dedicated. Then when you get there, " Oh sorry, you will have to go OTR for now." If that's what's happened my as well get out now.

    Like most of the other poster's have said proper 2 week notice not just on the phone but use quelcomm and email too. If your not fired on the spot and do run with them for the said two weeks make sure you have enough cash or credit to get home. Only take bare minimum out with you for those two weeks. Most will route you back to the nearest terminal to your home, But there is no guarantee they may need that truck in fontanna or Indianapolis. remember CYA

    You have been given good advice thus far. Heres a few more suggestions to ponder;

    Never let your emotions get the better of you.

    Never "quit" at the spur of the moment.

    Always have a fall back position lined up before you turn in that truck.

    Drop yard is what you are describing...not a terminal!

    If you do decide to quit...do it the right way...give notice, get routed to the closest terminal, get your personal things out of the truck, and turn it in according to their procedures. Exactly the opposite of how they issued you the truck....and be sure it is clean and ready for the next driver to occupy. Just because they gave you a dirty truck, doesn't mean you have to return it the same. Show some personal integrity and do it right!

    Thanks for the responses. Honestly this isnt a spur of the moment decision. I have been being jacked around by this place for the last year. They knew a year ago I didnt want OTR... I was promised lanes to run to get me home more often, then told no frieght running where I lived to get me home. Which was a line of BS considering one of their major shippers was less than 2 miles from where I lived. I have sat there with the dispatcher and explained what I was looking for and if they couldnt get something like that to PLEASE let me know so I could move on to something different. It really is like being pushed around by a giant bully, getting up off the ground, brushing the dirt off my pants and walking away with a smile. That isnt me... The big kick in the arse... Telling me there isnt any dedicated runs where I am at currently, but on their web site they are looking for dedicated drivers with nightly home time and weekends OFF right here where I am sitting! Oh and 3 more of those positions were posted Thursday! To be filled IMMEDIATELY
