thats not true. hell, i started with e.d i n july of 2008 when the economy was really screwed up. just gotta keep at it if you want it. most fuel companies around here do not advertise when looking for new drivers. you may want to just get that co name of the side of the tractor and call them up. all they can say is, we are not hiring. j/s

try gemini motor transport they are fuel hauler for loves travel stops I know they have hired hands fresh out of school it depends on the local manager. I know in the northwest where I live they have put on at least 2 newbiesfresh out of school

This is very true. I was a "newb" only a couple months out of school and got on with Gemini. I have no complaints about the company at all. My regional manager is a good guy and the benefits are excellent. The experience I'm gaining is wonderful. They are strict in their hiring such as background checks, DMV reports and even credit checks but its well worth it to work for them. -
Do Love`s and Pilot driver`s work around the clock? I`m thinking about applying for both of these companies. I`m a newb too, with no experience but will finish school in a few weeks.
There is a lot of Kennan & Spirit Express tankers in my area. (B`ham,AL.) -
Almost all fuel companies run 24/7. Personally I think its nuts putting a newbie, straight outta school in a gas tank, but that's just me.

Hook, your probably right, I just wanted to get some advice while i`m making a career change, thanks again!

Loves would be by far better than PFJ. Loves pays load pay, but they make way more than PFJ. Starting as a diesel hauler would be a ton easier than starting out doing stations. Just a lot less variables to deal with.

i started this thread in 2008 and i couldn't wait to start fuel hauling. after 3.5 yrs of hauling fuel for energy dispatch i can say i wouldn't want to haul fuel again in the Atlanta market. in 2009 im grossed 63,000 in 10 months. this yr i would have been lucky to make 46,000-50,000. BIG DROP!!! im heading to fedex freight as a line haul/road driver. to all newbies, once you get your experience make sure you look for a company that offers you a career not just a job. don't waist your time with these sorry trucking companies!
