Well sir, to answer your question, most schools teach you only what you need to know to pass your CDL exam. Finishing up, is supposed to be done by companies like yours. You know, the kind that take rookies and team them up with "experienced" drivers.

I myself, did not know how to slide a 5th wheel, and in my 1st company (training), had the hose crimped off so that you couldn't slide it. A lot of what I've learned since school, is from talking to experienced drivers. Yep, theres some, just like you. But then, there's a whole bunch of them out there, with a wealth of knowledge and willing to share it, IF THEY ARE ASKED.

I suggest an opening line like this "sir, I'm a brand new driver and running into something I don't have a clue about. Do have some time and will you allow me to pick your brain"

Not sure I explained it very well so if your having the same problem I am, with finding the JBS thread, please PM him and see if you can do a better job than me. It would be really great, if you were a technical person who could explain it in confuserese terms. lol

I used to work for Tyson for 12 years,switched to JBS a few months ago,I just don't know how to change screenname

 

Just left Mount Pleasant to do a drop and hook at millard in ft. worth no preplan yet,maybe they will release me back to the real world now

 

Just checked my pay today.... Just over $700 take home for the past 2 weeks. That's up $100 from last paycheck, but dang..... where'd the miles go. I use to be nonstop, but now stuck doing these short Waco and Dallas runs.
Delivering at amigos, then pick up in LA.
After I deliver Saturday morning, I'll have 2k miles so far for this next paycheck

 

Did the guard tell you that junk, about having to check in at the east dock before you go to the back 40? He got everyone all jacked up today.
After the wreck yesterday, they came out with a memo, and the dude read it wrong.

 

I'm sure u been to amigos b4 but if not they don't start receiving till midnight,no matter what qcom says. When u leave turn right then left at 1st light to 610 loop-u prolly knew all that tho...

 

WTF....tyson driver . . TOURQUE CURVE , would have been better !
