Ramen cups, oatmeal, samich stuff, granola bars, microwave Mac and cheese and hamburger helper cups, canned soups, lots of tuna, yogurt, veggie trays and a grill it myself steak dinner or chicken quarter once a week. Loaded baked potatoes often in the microwave, Jimmy Dean breakfast stuff.
I found that $50 bucks between Walmart and the dollar store once a week was sufficient, especially when items from the week before were usually left over. I never bought coffee, always made in my truck.... that alone saves $20 a week if you're a coffee fanatic. I used carbonated water with juice instead of soda pop. Every now and then I'd hit outback steakhouse or Lynn's Chinese buffet if I needed a good B.M. ....... Chinese makes the bum puke. Generally $50 is quite a bit of chewing for a week.

You sir...sound like a good trainer. I hope I get a trainer like you when I go out with Schneider.
It's obvious to me you care.Jackofalltrades1977 and Southpaw7391 Thank this. -
Here is the link to the mini freezer that I have.

It's on the top bunk since you can't fit much of anything on a 660. I have one of those electric Coleman 40qt coolers as my fridge. It has plenty of room in it, and will keep frozen food frozen for quite some time. It is in the spot under the "closet" space. I have yet to find an actual mini fridge that will fit in the 660. The smallest that Wal Mart carries is the 1.7 cu. ft. and it's about an inch too big...and there is no way in hell I'm giving $600-700 to Kenworth for theirs.Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -

Ask the trainer if you can use some of the space in his Refrigerator
to put some lunch meat and super trucker stuff to make your sandwich taste better. (I would not recommend diesel or 5th wheel grease, they have a horrible taste)
Stay away from truck stop buffet's. They are nothing more than the food that wasn't ordered the day before.
If nothing else, try eating "McDoubles and drink sweet tea" you can get full for 5 to 6 dollars a day doing that...leaving you more money to play video games with.flightwatch Thanks this. -
Always remember, Da and Tha aren't replacements for the word THE.
Also, periods, and space would help people read what you're trying to say.
You're going to spend more money in training than out. With a fridge, and basic cooking supplies, I've only eaten in a truck stop twice in 2-2.5 weeks. My mini fridge was the best thing to buy. In training, you're really at the mercy of your trainer.gmav44 Thanks this. -
When my driving time was over, I would often sit with my trainer, and go over whatever I had questions about during my drive time. Once I was ready to go to the bunk, that was my time. If I wanted to be on the internet, reading the news, I would. If I wanted to watch a tv show, I would. My bunk time, was MY bunk time, not my trainers to dictate that I could only sleep or watch him. I'm a grown adult, and know when it's time to go to bed, and manage my time.
It's good you have rules in place for when your student was driving, but once that was over, the student should have some say so in what he does with his off time.
Up until I started eating out of the truck, I was spending 120-140 or more a week eating in TS, and had started feeling like crap. Now I spend half that, and feel a lot better. I'm sleeping better, and don't feel as sluggish throughout the day. I also started feeling like a chump giving so much money to the truck stops. No more.Last edited: Feb 26, 2012

This doesn't make sence.. There are bad trainers out there. But that's everywhere. Not just stebens I have a buddy in training right now who went through a bad trainer at Stevens. But it took just a phone call ad he was back on the truck with a better trainer. Point to this is, Stevens will work with you! You just have to let them know what's going on. If they don't know the trainers are doing that then you only have yourself to blame. Grow up.
Maybe trucking isn't for you. It sucks in the beginning. Suck it up. And the whole throwing your friends stuff on "da" fuel island. Yea... Im sure that's totall bs. There's gotta be more to that story then what your telling us.
In other words, enjoy 4-6 months of training at prime, doing the same thing you were doing at Stevens.pattyj Thanks this. -
I called the dog catcher one night when my ex wife and I were fighting. I told them there was a massive B!%#h in my living room and she had tried to bite me....... cops came too, and I went to jail for the night. I still think its funny.
This post is about as relevant to the topic as most of the others, just thought I'd share a random thought too. Thank you, thank you very much.
