And you wonder why you're not employed.
Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
Instead of being wary of online apps, be wary of what you post online...MANY employers are looking at that including facebook and such...You have the right to free speech and they have the right to not hire you because of it....
Treefork, skellr, Gizmo_Man and 1 other person Thank this. -
I find myself looking for the "nonsense" button, but there is only a "thanks" button and I ain't thanking you for posting nonsense so....
07-379Pete, Gizmo_Man, windsmith and 2 others Thank this. -
Yeah It's getting kind of strange on here.I was following a thread in good trucking company's called my journey as a truck driver.Guy posted finishing school, picking a starter company,etc.etc.But his last post or two he mentioned he had been told not to post on here.He is with JBS out of Greely CO.Since then I've noticed no more post about JBS on any of the forums.I think JBS has told them not to write about them no more on the web. Funny it's the mega's and starter company's doing this,so the word won't get out about the way new driver's are being treated and screwed around.

I agree with BiggDaddy and walstib
You shouldn't repost things just to gain attention.
First off the recruiter couldn't track you here via IP address. As the only people that have access to check your IP on the forum are the admins/moderators.
Checking your profile information I see you have your email address private. Meaning nobody can look you up or even email you from the forum. That is unless you publicly posted your email somewhere on this forum in one of your posts.
Either way though, its your posts that are publicly displayed for all to see. It's your choice on how specific or vague you make your posts, it's your choice on how private you make your profile, what email addresses you use, etc...Last edited by a moderator: Feb 19, 2012

Why not "out" the company that found you here? After all you're not going to work there.
What's the admins got to say about employers getting emails and ip's? -
And this is why I have always advised that everyone ought to take steps to keep their personal lives separate from their professional lives online. Its not at all difficult and anyone can do it.
1. Have more than one email address. I have an email address that I only give out when signing up for websites. Forums like this one, amazon, photobucket etc all get that email address from me. I have a different email address that I use for family, friends and professional stuff. I never use the second email address for forums or other social stuff and if you were to search the web for the second email, none of the forums I participate in would show up. Online banking is the only exception to that rule. My banks online site is the only website that gets my personal email address.
2. Make sure your email addresses are completely different from one another. Meaning don't use rustybuttscraper@hotmail.com for one and rustybuttscraper@gmail.com for the other. For professional purposes, your personal/professional email should be your last name/first initial i.e. jsmith@hotmail.com or smithj@hotmail.com. Your web only email should not have any parts of your last name in it.
3. Never post your real name or contact info on any forum. Use your web email (which doesn't contain your name) to sign up and then keep it hidden. There are certain forums on the web which feel the best way to keep things civil is to force members to use their real name as their screen name. Either stay off of these or make up a name that is completely different from your own.
4. If you use Facebook or any other social network site, manage your privacy settings. Make sure the general public cannot see anything you post there.
There are things that everyone ought to be doing, not just truckers. -
The fact remains this recruiter went into non-related web info
that didn't pertain to the job I was applying for.
He even fowarded back copies of posts I had made in forums
like this one asking what I meant by certain remarks.
I think that goes a little beyond yer standard backround check.
Yeah, I told him to shove it...who wouldn't??
If yer going sit still for that yer a real wuss.
I called the company HQ to compalin about the doings of this
particular recruiter.
They claimed they DO NOT subscribe to this sort of practice
in doing their backround checks.
They asked if I could send them his fowards of my posts that
he sent back to me when checking me out...which I did.
Maybe I got him in hot water.

I'm just curious why everyone always pulls the "unless you're a recruiter yourself" line when someone says something that actually makes sense...
