Like Ezrider said some of the OTR companies will pay for your training. If it's oilfield work you are looking for I know Halliburton and Baker Hughes will send you to get your CDL. The CDL school I went to trained Halliburtons guys and I just got on at Baker. I interviewed mid Jan. and started the second week of Feb. Although I put in a ton of applications at both companies, on their web sites, starting at the begining of Dec. all the way up until I got hired. I'm still getting rejection letters for Halliburton. :) It just takes time.

    I appreciate it! Thank you!

I see Windsmith's point as well but coming in as we will be if we do this, on a wing and a prayer, it would not be possible to visit all of these locations to peruse the best opportunities. We are looking at the expediting primarily because I hated driving T/T though I continued doing it because I loved being an OTR driver and the associated benefits. (And yes, I know there are detriments as well) Add in to that the fact that my wife has little experience on a two-ton truck and the straight trucks become an even more viable option for us. I have not really seen any companies running straight trucks that will pay for the CDL and training so I was looking at it this way. However, as always, I am certainly open to suggestions ... and no, not expecting any easy roads, handouts or miracles, though I am still grateful if and when I do find them.

All of your thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated, so again, thank you all!

in willistion nd i hear mc donalds is paying up to 15 bucks a hour, the problem is housing is outrageous. nd has a unemployment rate of somewhere around 1% i would say the number of trucking company's hireing is way down from what it was when i started out there however there are still job openings there as well as just about every non oil job is hiring and paying good wages. but expect trouble finding housing and expect to pay out the ### for it. many people living in there cars just to be up there and make the money
