    hi
my husband is applying for second career program with government, He has 3 demerit points on his record that will expire in 10 months.
The career counselor is requesting a letter from the employer stating that he will not have problems being hired in the industry if all the other conditions are met.
I wonder how can I get this info for the counselor.
    please help
    than you

I'm not trying to be a smart ###, but, wouldn't you go to the company that would employ him, and ask them for it? If there isn't such a company, then you'll need to go back to the counselor, and ask how you're supposed to get a letter from an employer, when he's not employed by a trucking company. Or, is there more info to this that you could provide here that would help one to point you in the right direction?

3 points on your license would not be a problem for 90% of the companies out there as long as its a speeding ticket or some other minor infraction.

he does not work right now.
yes his points are from tickets and they will expiry soon anyway - I need something generic in writing from the trucking company that would say that 3 demerit points would not be a problem.
I emailed number of companies but did not get return - I think they don't want to write smth like this because they don;'t see the point but we need to s ubmit this in his application and i had trouble getting this

Most carriers aren't going to respond to a general inquiry such as that. You need to schedule a visit @ a terminal and time with a recruiter. Assuming you are in Burlington, Ontario call Challenger Motor Freight in Cambridge and Schneider National in Aberfoyle/Guelph. They're the two major training carriers in your area.

No one will talk to him until he has a license. They get phone calls like this regularly.
Don't waste your time with a recruiter(they get paid for recruiting, not talking to guys without a license). There will be no letters offering employment or potential employment coming from any company until you have a license(it's called liability).

If the points fall off in the next 10 months don't worry about not getting hired.
3 points won't be an issue.

If your Husband has no criminal record and has the "ability" to get a FAST CARD employers will want him.

If there are any DUI'S forget about driving, regardless.

With the above mentioned,I will agree that simply telling the counsellor your husband is "good to go" will not suffice.

Here's a guy that runs a safety and compliance company,he deals with several reputable carriers and might be able to help you out with a letter or a "contact" for the counsellor to verify your husbands chances of seeking gainfull employment.

    Good luck.

I have hired drivers with a few demerits before when they are for minor infractions and my insurance co. has no problem with it. If you get something specific from the counsellor as to what they want, I would be happy to draft a letter stating that points for minor infractions will not impede a drivers employability if that helps.

hi that would be great if you could do that ! I would appreciate that very much. I think just the short letter something like that:

    To whom it may concern
I have hired drivers with a few demerit points before when they are for minor infractions and my insurance co. has no problem with it.
In my opinion points for minor infractions will not affect the driver being employable.

    regards
    Your name
    Company
    Contact

if you could send it to my email that would be fantastic ! [email protected]

Again thank you very much for your help. My husband called employers and they told him on the phone the same as you just said but nobody wants to give it in writing so far. Thanks again
