Congratulations Bling.....hope all goes well for you.
Well, I'm getting pulled into my DM's office tomorrow......we'll see what happens.......I figure I can't be in too much trouble since I didn't get in trouble for putting the tandems in the ditch (twice) and up on a snowbank once....LOL.....just got letters saying Preventable Incidents.

I am new to the forum. My husband is currently training with US Xpress and he had a little over 3 months experience before he came to US, but they made him go out with a trainer anyway. I need some advice because he is unhappy with his trainer. He called and tried to have the trainer changed and they refused. I am not sure what to tell him to do. His trainer likes to show up at his deliveries early and spend the night in the parking lot instead of finding a truck stop. These deliveries are not in great areas and my husband feels unsafe sleeping in the truck while the truck is full. At the deliveries the workers all tell stories of how people there have been robbed at gunpoint. He has also been complaining because they stuck him with a dedicated run trainer, so they will drive and make deliveries all day where they have to unload the truck by hand. He has no time for food or bathroom breaks and then no truck stop to be able to take a shower or use the bathroom because the trainer wants to sleep in the parking lot of the next delivery.
He has trained at two other companies one of them being Arnold, and he has never encountered this problem before. When he called to complain they told him to get use to it and did not give him another option. I could tell some other things that he complained about with the trainer, but it is really to gross to mention. My husband said one of the things that the trainer did may have been illegal. Any advice I could pass on to him would be helpful. -
It sounds like things have maybe gotten worse sense I have been there. Have him go over the training coordinators head to their boss. That person should be Darlene Crabtree. Have him call the operator to speak with this woman. The trainer you are talking about sounds like the person I had as a trainer for 2 days in Florida. You may want to read my post on here about training issues with USX.
Something else he may not know of, the trainer is responsible for unloading the truck and your husband does not have to do that work. As for the staying the night at the customer, he is doing this so he can stretch his HOS. We were always told in Orientation that we were entitled to a shower and to be able to eat.
Maybe he should tell the training department that he is fearing for his life with this trainer.DREAMS00 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the quick reply. I will let him know. He did not know that he did not have to unload the trucks. He has been complaining that he has to do all this labor for basically no pay.

Not to mention the trainer gets $20.00 a day for each day he has a trainee with him, and he also get paid extra for each stop he has.

Do anyone know if the walmart dc in hope mills nc will let you park overnight?
-
Probably be there all night if it's a live unload lol
-
No Walmart DC will let you stay on the property unless you are being unloaded.....and then when you are done you have to leave. If you run out of hours, call safety and let them know. Then call the police and have them escort you to a safe haven....aka legal place to park and sometimes that means you spend the night in the parking lot of a Walmart store!!!
Kay....I am a trainer (about to retire, I'm thinking) and there is no way your husband should be made to stay with this guy......my last student was with another trainer for 1 week who was a filthy pig (so she said) and she got off his truck....she had some issues with me and got off my truck after 5 days.....so it is possible to get off a trainer's truck.
As for me.......the meeting with my DM was about what I expected. Had to talk to Human Resources about the problem with my student and I'm now on probation from training until I get some things taken care of......BUT at least I still have a job. -
Thanks gal, there was plenty parking around the dc, probably even more parking than some of these crampy truckstops have.
