when you deal with companies that have no morals and only hire students for one thing and thats to fill a vacant truck thats what you get...ask a bull hauler and see how they heard the cattle into a bull rack and then think of students as the same thing... Patti is right do your homework and avoid the (as we use to call them) the BIG 5.. They dont care about your family or your personal need..Recruiters are like car salesman..they will try to sell you and paint this rosey picture for you when in reality your gonna be a slave to them and at their mercy.. They could afford to pay drivers 50 cents a mile yet refuse to and to some degree i can understand the overhead the have and yes its enormus but the industry is way behind the times and the pay structure is poverty waged with no cost of living what so ever unless your union...

Until Sombody comes up with another way of getting exp. driving a truck, these company's will always thrive.Where else can a new guy go?My only advice is do what I did.Put in 6 mos, find a carrier that hires 6 months exp.Do another 6 months then go to a carrier that requires 1 yr,then move to a 2ry company thats a good one. It's the way it is.

I agree Pete.It does'nt matter where ya go,all starter companies are the same in one way or another.Otherwise they would'nt have such a high turnover rate.I paid my dues.People that bash starter companies also went thru it.

So your saying it's ok to have 3 jobs in 2yrs??...talk about bad advice .

I was in a tight spot, then had to stay for the sake of not having a long list of companies on my application, my bad, I knew what it was gonna be like and you are right, its a crusty old training company. Fixing it though, going car hauling and within the year going to do what I've trained to do...photography! So all good! I started driving w/ Schneider, was treated like gold until the very day they gave me a half penny raise, then nothing but sitting. Crazy, but that's the reality of trucking, huh?

I talk to Werner drivers on a daily basis.I have not yet been able to talk to one who is happy with them.

While you're listening to their sob story, ask them about their driving record. A company is only as good to you as you are to your driving record. Nuff said...

My driving record is beautiful. There are other reasons a person might end up w/ a company like Werner, as I explained in my original post. But I don't feel the need to defend myself. Nuff said...

Werner is not that bad of a company, if they were that bad then why would they be in the business for so many years? I understand the need to trainer companies and they are there for just that reason "training". This is why most get what they need and get out and move onto local jobs who pay more. I am going back to driving only to get my experience again and go to a local company.

I work for a "training company" and I get well over .40 cents per mile. I make enough to live well and put back a little. All the while only spending 3 or 4 nights on the road a week.
Werner has got to be the crappiest big company there is out there...
