Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking... I have a good work history, I'm not a kid out of school, I won't take crap, I've been around the block.
Anyway.. i'm over it.
Thanks to all who had good tips about finding a trucking company worth driving for. -
I live south of I-4 too and newbie options ARE limited. Tomorrow, the Werner recruiter is coming to my school. Today on a 300+ mile day trip, we convoyed up I-95, west on I-10, south on I-75, stopped @ the 75 Chrome Shop and saw MANY Werner trucks along the way. Out of about 20 trucks, only a few looked like rags. Saw several new Prostars, Cascadias, a couple Petes and KWs. And this past Tues. a former student of the school came by in his 2012 Prostar and answered many questions about Werner and he seemed satisfied with the 20 months he had spent with them. They have alot of different lanes and divisions in Florida and the bottom line is......If you're a big boy, responsible, hard-working and cut out for driving, Werner shouldn't be any worse a starting point than any other trucking company that hires students(in an area that has limited options for students). At least they're not automatics. And for anyone who wants to suggest I do my "homework", I have called almost 30 companies( gleaned from 3 months of constant TTR thread searches)and MANY companies are either not hiring south of I-4 or want experience(some as little as 2 months which I find as strange), talked to drivers, friends, instructors and several helpful members on here. I still have several more companies to call, but I am convinced( if my 38 years have taught me anything) that if you want something bad enough, put in your time and exercise personal responsibility, somebody will still try to come along and sabotage you. Whether you let them or not is TOTALLY up to you. Attitude is everything and perception is reality.

well put NSB I have called to and same response. where in FL are you at?
-
i agree NSB where in FL are you what school did you graduate from?
-
It will be March in just a few days, and recruiting may improve some.
By April, it will definetly pick up.
Recheck with companies, their policies, needs, and hiring areas change constantly.
Werner should not be on anyones list, just because of where you reside.
There are decent companies hiring noobies from florida.
Continue researching...... -
name a few I bet i called them.
