Then how do you explain those middle eastern type lads who've only been in canada a year or so getting jobs???

Mind you they've got the no demerit points on their side given they haven't been here long enough to get a ticket, or drive a couple thousand miles even.

Sorry, I don't want to change the subject but this no experience = no job thing is quite the over tension-ed string with me.

To the OP, I just went though second career. Took a Heavy Equipment Operator course along with my AZ truck driving. All part of the same program. Now when the second career man asked me about my licence regarding my employment opportunities I told him I wasn't aware my licence had anything to do with anything when bombing around in a mechanical shovel :biggrin_2559: .

I had no issues getting funding and I have 7 points on licence.

    kinga zak Thanks this.

FWIW, last winter I hired a guy that was in his early 60's, was in charge of the finance department for a car dealership for many years and decided to retire from that and go trucking. Got his class 1 license and all his oil field tickets advertised looking for work and I hired him no problem. We all had to start somewhere and I have no problem giving a new driver a start.

    KZ,

sounds like you a very 'efficient' adviser, who wants all the i's dotted etc.

Just a suggestion, when I look at Trucking companies web-sites, under the careers or driver area, they will often show pay rates, and give exact requirements with regard to the experience etc. that they require. including points acceptable.

So, maybe a print out ?? of 2-3 of those could be a simple solution ? Good Luck

maybe I will do that when I find the description that allows 3 demerits as well but I have not find the company that would say right under the careers section that 3 demerit points are acceptable so far and believe or not I emailed 20 companies and I only got back a response saying contact us when you have a license, and as I said employers said it would be ok on the phone but so far I got the letter through this forum so I really appreciate it.

Not sure to be honest. Ive seen adds where employers wanted no more than 3 demerits. The most I've ever had was 3 at one time, dont you get a letter from the goverment after 7 demerits. maybe I was lucky
