Hey SHC we talked before when i was looking at the choice program while you were there and help me work of my figures. Now I know SNI stretches out the oil changes to 40k but some of the trucks on there site only have 500K a few are under that. They have been buying a lot of new trucks this year. They were always good on doing maintenance on my truck. So one of there trucks with 500k on it.for 20k with complete maintains records oil analysis and DOT inspected and you would not even consider it. Don't get me wrong a lot of there trucks are beat to death as is any company truck. But for the year and mileage there 5 to 10k less than most dealers and well under blue book as opposed to paying 5-10k more at a dealer with limited records if any. I'm not seeing how it could be a bad deal. I'm looking to make the jump by sept.if thing continue as planed and would prefer to start off with out a truck payment.

How many miles are on that truck ABC?

Better to have a dyno test done to determine the actual condition of the engine RIGHT NOW than to reply upon records of stuff done years before.
And have an independent shop do a through inspection of the truck, too unless you think you are qualified to do it.
I've had dealings with Werner a few times after their "drivers" hit me while I was parked. One conversation I had with the guy in their insurance dept. made sense... he told me to NEVER buy a Werner truck with low miles or one that is priced way under what they ask for most others... those are usually the trucks that have had major damage and they are looking to unload them at a discount. Because they are self insured their is no record of any insurance claim... just food for thought.
One more thing... orange trucks have terrible resale value....free2frog Thanks this. -
No, CAT engines do not have a EGR. They were able to get around it with twin turbos and IVA system. Basically the ACERT engine (C15) is better than the Detroit 14L and the ISX in that aspect. It is the higher HP CAT as well so it has a stronger bottom end. The ACERT is actually a very good engine and with that trucks specs you should see an average of 6.5mpg I would guess. With some modifications such as free flow mufflers and an ECM tune you could easily see 7.5mpg. I've been told that the ACERT is an awesome engine after a tune.
That said, of I had $40k I would already be on a plane to take a look at it. As it has O/O specs and the Eagle interior and looks SUPER clean to me. Also that roof faring is removable if you wanted to pull tankers or flatbeds as well !!!!abcofcric Thanks this. -
The only thing I don't like with buying their used trucks are you do not know HOW MANY drivers drove that truck in those 500k miles nor if they were 10yr veterans or all driving school grads. If u have had the same truck since it was new and really wanted to become an O/O then I would inquire about buying it. Then u know what u got and what's been done.
Also being a driver there u should already know that the majority of their mechanics are not the brightest the industry has to offer.free2frog Thanks this. -
You can get one from SNI for a lot less

Krooser SHC Thank you you both make a few good point here Something I had not thought about. If i read there how to buy are truck from us correctly they wont allow you to take it off the lot so I guess I will have to rule them out. -
I would want to check it out thoroughly. It sounds like they will hold the paper or note on the financing. If that is the case, you can expect to pay at least 30% more for the truck than it is probably worth. The miles are low for a 7 year old truck. If you decide to buy from this dealer you may want to make sure to read over all the paperwork and expect some hidden charges. These dealers prey on people with poor credit or who have difficulty finding financing. If you pay cash, you should be able to work a better deal out on the purchase price.
