Why not look outside the box! And say make a profit on every load! This is not charity were doing here were trying to make a living.
And hopefully so Something for retirement which you don't ever bear anyone talk about! Come in drivers we sacrifice alot being out here living in our trucks days or weeks at a time! We need to be compensated for that sacrifice!

I think he means that average rate should be 3.00 a mile to the O/O on average. What I can tell the rates average 3.25-3.50 before all the fingers get stuck in the money pie. whats left for the O/O is around 2.00-2.25 on average and theres a lot of the"ltl" less than a dollar stuff floating around.
LTL and partial to me make for a short conversation generally with NO THANK YOU as the awnswer. -
I understand what you r saying SHC. I tried ITS demo search first, and since i dont have the MC# yet, I couldnt see the borker's contact info. (I dont know if I can get their membership without the MC#). So just out of curiosity, I called couple of brokers from free load boards just to get the rate of the loads.
I am learning and reading threads of this great forum. There are a lot of experienced O/Os here who are willing to help if one wants to learn. Good thing about reading threads is u get to see both sides of the picture. Some posts are encouraging and some are not but still one can learn something.
Right now i am trying to find where the good "FREIGHT LANES" are and which states I should avoid going into. My plan is to run 2200-2500 miles per week including DH and i want to average $2.00 (minimum) per mile for all the miles. If its possible, sure I will get my own authority otherwise its not worth it for me. -
Seeing a lot of low $2.00 stuff on the Landstar board this week out of Oh. and surrounding states.
-
Everything we've had all week has been way above that. And it's not all going northeast.

I would think living where you live you should be in a good area. I would think you could run a triangle from Ky to Western Pa over to say Il a do pretty well.
-
Well don't come anywhere close to Texas and think your going to get anything over $2.00 a mile I was in Houston Thursday and best paying load I found was $1.65 a mile so I drove to baton rouge to find something paying over $2.00 a mile my rates are at $2.55 to the truck but never see it unless it's under a 300 mile run
-
No, I was just there and got a good rate out. Even if you go to Ohio (lots of freight, good rates) it shouldnt be cheap as thats a sucker deal. What im saying is your in NC so they are trying to give you the lowball rate to get to the good freight (sucker deal) and see who bites. Plenty do as they dont know any better as they just think oh man, it will make my AVERAGE 2.00 per mile. but why not be able to average more than that and not haul cheap crap?

I'm working on that...give me time!
