You dont just walk in off the street and drive for Publix............That's one of the most wanted driving jobs in the country, you have to load the trucks for years before you ever get to drive one! -
Some ppl just need a tire thumper upside thier head!....................
I'm at the Petro in Jackson, MS and I go in to handle some business, There is a FedEx wiggle wagon parked in the fuel island. I go in drop a load of dispatchers off, shower, shave my face AND my head!
As I am walking out of the shower area I see a FedEx driver waddling away from the buffet at the skillet and head outside......I'm thinkin surely it must be ANOTHER driver!
I look around long enough to pick out THREE DVD's, pay for them and walk outside...........What do I see?............YOU GUESSED IT!
This MORON parked at the island, went in and stuffed his fat face and was still parked there after I shat, showered, shaved, and shopped!!!!!!! -

Thank God I have a pre-hire from swift... back-up plan in motion.. The company sounded good, I have read every post since the beginning , one of the reasons I applied for JBS, all good things, as soon as I was in school, the messages started going downhill. I saw the you left JBS and then came back.. good sign right? Well guess not...I have signed a contract, told there is a wait list for orientation.. got worried and came back and read the thread... talked to the Director of students at my school and she has a plan in action, although I will end up owing more for school, I will be out of the contract for JBS. Monday is "D" day.. one way or the other, Thank you Doc for all the updates and to everyone else here who has help me make the right decision.
123456, DocRox and DocHoliday Thank this. -
Well STMD, not EVERYONE is unhappy. This 2 weeks out, 5800 miles and back home a day early. Wish you well on that Swift gig...

JBS is a ok company for a new guy looking for experence. They have new petes and KWs but a super low on power seen a lot of then on the I70 pass maxed out at 25 to 30 mph. I always whent east with my first load. You will start out with lots of miles then around 3 months in to it they will start droping off the last 3 weeks I was there i was geting around 450 to 500 a week when I started I was geting 2500 to 2800. I dont like to bash companys and not here to just tell people my experence. I think the miles droped off due to JBS buying a lot of prossing plants and feed lots across the country that = less miles to you next drop.

Onebadz,
JBS has not purchased anymore since 2009, So that is not the excuse or reason..
The reason for the lack of miles is the lack of management ability...
The Current Management is not capable of running an OTR Refrigerated company lets take a look at the current management...
Todd G, Director of Operations also the Director Of JBS Logistics.. He is working in two divisions, and HAS 0 Experience running an Operations department in an OTR company.. He at one point in his short career was a Driver. Now the Logistics division has posted High Numbers in the 4th Quarter of 2011 and shows promising forecast in 2012....
Darrin T, NO experience as an Operations Manager, Formerly of DART corporation. Fleet Manager Supervisor there, which is what he was when he was Hired By JBS in 2010. HAS no Experience with Refrigerated Freight what so ever. Prior to Dart he worked for one other Dry Freight Company..
Becky K JBS Fleet Manager Supervisor, Former Fleet Manager and Load Planner.
Becky is under more pressure than she has ever been under in her entire career. She has forgotten where she came from, Becky at one time was an OTR driver. Becky has completely forgotten about the driver and is more worried about taking care of the "numbers" that her boss wants to see. Again she has fallen into the "trap" and allowed the most important asset of a trucking company to be pushed off, that is the Driver Becky. ( I know you read this along with Darrin and Todd)
The Load planners at JBS Carriers are working with their hands tied, at one time JBS Carriers Load planners effectively booked the freight and told the Dispatchers about the loads. Now JBS has CSR's with no experience booking the freight which has proven time and time again to be a disaster.
The Current management has successfully driven this company straight in the ground. They have put more trucks on and have lowered the profit per unit. Drivers are getting less miles, Drivers are Deadheading farther, and We are hauling More Dry Freight than ever.
Drivers are not making it home on time, and if they do they are home early which in turns means no pay for early home time. Either way home late, home early it directly reflects on piss poor management.
It is no shock to me that when the Former President Mo Schroter was terminated from JBS carriers that the current management team was able to shim their way back in like a group of snakes, whose performance is nothing less than pitiful and deplorable.
If any of you thinks that things will get better with the current Management in place, you are a good dreamer. I Dreamed that dream and in the end I has terrible miles, and woke up to the reality that JBS Carriers is going down hill quickly, they began offering a 5000.00 sign on bonus, yet never offered a retention bonus to the drivers who have been there.
They have yet to follow through with any program that has been discussed to benefit the drivers, everytime is has been nothing more than lip service, and I am sorry but lip service does not pay my Bills, it sure as hell does not make money, and the bottom line is that if JBS Carriers is to survive the current state of the economy they will have to either eliminate the current management team, or continue to have a turnover rate in excess of 110% which they seem to be ok with, it gives them a tax write off in the loss column..
With fuel on the rise I am sure JBS will begin Harassing their drivers about every little detail to cut back on fuel, next JBS will run their trucks down to 62mph, that conversation would not surprise me at all just look at who they have in the Safety Department, a Man who has more than one law suit with his name being the center focus of the law suit. Just google the man and CRST.. A huge shock to think that a company as big as JBS would even hire such a loser.
But then again the current Operations Team is not much better.
When the management at any trucking company stops caring about the drivers then they will fall apart..
The most successful companies in the industry actually care about their drivers and know them by name... not by a truck number... Think about this if JBS is so interested in Driver retention then why in the hell do the drivers quit faster than they can hire them?robthesailor, Florida Girl, DocRox and 3 others Thank this. -
DocRox and LadyDriverCO Thank this.
