HUH? There is no such thing as a 15 year contract in the oilfield. 15 years......maybe 15 days. I think you should ask your husband for some clarification. Who are "they"? I know you said you are new to the oilfield. I'm sure other members on this board can prove my point that there are no 15 year contracts in the oil patch. There are barely 1 year contracts, and those are broken all the time out here.

The super probably said this play will last 15 years. If he said that his is partially right. The drilling could last for 20 years and the production work could last 50 years. If they quoted your husband 90 hours, are working in 40-50, AND they claim they have work for 15 years your husband should look for a different job. Seriously, there are 100's of jobs for experienced truckers in ND and no one should be sold on 90 hours and given half that. Yes, it has slowed down this winter but there is no way a company would expect to have their drivers working 90 and ending up with 40. Whoever he is working for is probably an owner operator company and doesn't own their own work. I don't mean to take over the TX posts, but if you said who he works for I could give you an idea of what's going on with his hours.....Giggles the Original Thanks this.

They are just realigning up here in williston area for the spring push... They want to add 200 more well sites by the end of 2012... There are over 200 here now... My driving work here has quadrupled... We dont have enough time in the week to finish delivering to well sites... We have hired 10 new people just to keep up with demand.. so the hours are def here... Hopefully ur husband didnt get hired on with a fly by night company here... That would explain the loss of hours... There are companies here who have so much work but not nearly enough drivers to run there equipment...

Rockdoctor, it's for the Fracturing Driver position. I had flown down from Chicago about 3 weeks ago and they liked the fact that I came all the way to TX looking for a job. Seems to have paid off so far.

I came down from Chicago myself the last weekend of September, by the end of October I was working 60/wk making good money at a company I'm still with. Just a heads up if you are going to haul crude be prepared to wait 2-4 weeks for all of your background checks to come back. I was not prepared for that and was really strung out on my cash for a couple weeks there. All good now though, hell I just bought a brand new Harley last week. Not 100% sure this is the company I'm going to stick with, but I have gotten extremely valuable experience hauling crude and I could pull up the tent stakes and walk on with just about anyone if it came down to it. I'm not sure if it's the same wait period for frac drivers though, I know it's not for water haulers. Crude is blowing up in my area, one of our lease sites has been drilling new wells at one location for the past three months, I think they have put in somewhere around 20 wells in that time and production at that site has gone from 1200 barrels a day to 2700 two weeks ago and it's about to go to 3500 in about a week. I wonder if it's a coincidence that this lease site is less than two miles from one of the US Strategic Petroleum Reserves, the reserves are stored in underground salt mines. Can't help but think they are tapping underground seepage...jvar4001 Thanks this.
