This is where most lease ops fail. They fail to set aside money for self employment taxes and workers comp (or occupational insurance).

The cost of medical insurance for independents is pretty exorbitant as well so unless you have a spouse with benefits that extend to you this lease op deal may find you operating with no health insurance.

 

I believe Work comp isurance is one of the fixed expenses deducted weekly...

Health insurance can be purchased through several different avenues..Most people think "Oh, it's to expensive to buy on my own" but being a small business owner gives L/O the opportunity to join other small business owners and create a LARGE group there by drastically reducing the cost.

I see all the good things you guys say about act, I'm in orientation now and so far so good hope it stay that way.

 

I don't know when you are planned to pickup but you should go there when you get empty because it may be loaded or they will load you early. Also they will unload you early in Hastings as long as it is between 6am-6pm M-F.

 

You can get it off Monday. If you can be there before they open Monday morning just back in the last door next to the railroad tracks and they will start unloading you when he comes in. Every time I have had that load I delivered it a day early. It is probably scheduled to load Sunday so go there tomorrow and it might already be loaded. If not they will load you tomorrow.
