PS. On my journey down here, mostly 95 south. Saw 13 Prime trucks, 6 Schneider, 6 swift and 4 western express. Those are the ones I picked out, had to watch the road as well.

Served the Demand for payment yesterday. Fact is, it is not about the money. I would rather have her default and just move out. That way I can get on with my life.

After my unexpected trip to DE to deal with my renters I have an update.

I had to physically show up and confront them and demand payment. After telling them the terms (the ones they should have met) I started the eviction process. This past Friday I went to the courts and presented my paperwork. I was informed that I could not file until Monday, 5 full business days. Ok, I will overnight everything Monday AM.

It seems lately that action on my part gets a response. While driving back to MA the renter's husband called me. In a nutshell; I have some of the money, not even close to what he owes me. 5 minutes of him trying to convince me why they have not paid I simply said, I want you out.

After he realized I was not bluffing he said, what can we do. I told him that his best option is to take the money he has and look for another place to live, now. I told him that he can walk away and I would forgo the money he owes me if he and everyone is out by the 4th of March. He agreed to it.

So hopefully I will be moving back to DE and forgetting the mistake I made. If all goes well I will be in a company class starting in April.

    Gears Thanks this.

Owning property is one of the best investments one can have, but dealing with tenants can really suck.

Your ex-tenants shoud be thankful you were so flexible and understanding; you really could have made their lives a lot more miserable if you wanted.

    Best of luck...

Where in DE...if you don't mind me asking? I moved out 2 years ago. I lived in Newark for a year, and Clayton for 12 years.

U4EA. Properties are a great investment, but to be successful you have to be there. My father owned property buildings and did well at it. I guess the apple falls far from the tree. My plan is to be present and have a renter. The laws in DE are fair to owner occupied, no pay, then get the FO.

Hitman. My house is in Newark, a stone throw away from 95, old baltimore pike.

    Hitman and U4EA Thank this.

Good luck with your journey. This thread has potential. I enjoy reading about people's experiences with trucking from the very beginning all the way through training, truck assignement and beyond. Enjoying your posts so far.

Wife and I lived at Chestnut Crossing apartments off of rte.4 for a year back in '97...couldn't wait to get out of there...then bought a house down in Clayton. I retired from the GM plant in '07 and moved out of DE up to the mountains of north centrl PA in '10. Best of luck to you in your trucking career.

Roehl is better than any of these companies. Schneider is decent, Swift is horrible. Roehl also has an excellent school and training program. It is going to be tough to live anywhere on the east coast and survive on a ORT rookie salary.

The reason I am looking at Prime is because of the pet policy. There is no wiggle room, I have one and it is not an option. I have him set up with friends for the beginning.

I understand the pay for rookies, I have thought that through. Thankfully I have always lived well below my means and saved.
