I think Holset is part of Cummins, they took over some time ago.
If so, I'm sure they won't sell their best solutions to competitors.

The reason the engines come with a rear gear train is to allow the truck manufacturer to have a lower hood profile.

My friend has driven the 670 with both the D12 and Cuminns ISX. He prefers the ISX as it is more powerful. He described the D12 as weak engine.
