is messing with other truck drivers equipment common?

The person that did that to you might have a beef with your company. Unless of you might have made an enemy that you were unaware of .

It always a good idea to check the tandems and your fifth wheel every time you start for the day .

 

It happens and yes, there are A-holes out there that do it. Few years ago I heard they even did it to a gasoline hauler(they pulled his fifthwheel release).... Well, the guy didn't catch it took off... dropped the trailer, broke the landing gear and ruptured the front compartment tank... dropping 3,000 or so gallons of gasoline in the truck stop lot... thankfully it didn't ignite(but it sure could have). I heard they were looking for the guy that did it,and were going to charge him with a terrorist act... not sure about the truth to this, but it's what I heard.

 

I would call that suicidal behavior on some bozo's part. If they ever get caught in the act.......

 

I've never actually seen anybody pull pins..but I have been witness to trailers coming uncoupled from the 5th wheel pulling out of truck stops...

I don't drive for the big carriers, but I ALWAYS set my brakes and do a "tug" test..People don't think about the consequences of their actions until after the fact..Unfortunately, it's usually after someone has been hurt.

It's not fun and games out there people!...If you do something stupid like that, and heaven forbid you kill a bus load of kids or a family on vacation...I guarantee there will be an investigation...there are cameras EVERYWHERE...

Never gave much thought to the tandems but I try and remember to check the fifth wheel.that sheet is uncalled for if I caught someone messing with my stuff I would have a charge on me and a empty can of whuppas.

 

or it could be if he hauls reefer and the driver next to him got mad cause he didnt get any sleep.

 

If you had a TTR decal on the truck, Nobody would'a messed with you.
