A little background info. I have 6 months recent experience, and 2 years non-recent. I'm currently pulling a refer for Werner on a dedicated account. It's ok but if you ask me .31 a mile ain't worth being gone two weeks at a time. So I'm either looking for a place where I can make more money, or be home more often. I'd be content to stay at Werner if my fleet manager could at least get me through the house for dinner once or twice while I'm out but he claims there's " no freight going through there" then I constantly talk to drivers at different places that I'm picking up and I'm going thru there home town and they're going thru mine. I run my backside off so you'd think he'd want to work something out to keep me happy and on his board. Anyone know of a decent company that hires in the Memphis area where I could make more money or be thru the house more often? I'm trying to make a list, narrow it down, talk to drivers from the companies, and then decide. Or maybe someone has some advice on how I might go about things here at Werner? Any advice from more experienced drivers will be appreciated.

You might try MC Express out of Jonesboro Ar. I drove for them a little while and you are iback in Memphis about every other nite or ateast I was. They just could not get me home where I live enough to suit me. The website says 1 year experience but it is worth a call to talk to them.

I do have about 5 months experience before I came to Werner but it was local grain hauling. Couldn't make any money. $350 a week was a good week. Kinda got me to thinking what my grandpa said was true " a man can't make no money drivin a truck and being home every night". He drove truck from the time he was 19 until he was 67. He always had good advice.

No disrespect to your grandpa, but that statement simply isn't true. I'm a local driver and I can honestly say that I'm making as much per week as I did when I had good weeks OTR and much more then when I had bad ones.
