Rand McNally intelliRoute TND 500

Went to update my 500 today and had to download a new version of the dock software. The "update" button is grayed out meaning there's no updates available. There's always been updates available! Is this an issue or is there truly no updates?

And not that I ever use it, but the "Add Your Own POI" button is grayed out as well.

mark i down loaded new dock now it just says initializing. over a hour well not load whats up woops wroung thread mine is a 510

 

Make sure you have .Net Framework 3.5 installed.

You can verify this by going to your control panel and looking for uninstall files. Scroll down to MicroSoft and see if .Net is installed. If it is not then you will need to go to MS and download.

Also make sure your TND is on and connected during the install.

As long as they show where all the low clearance bridges are that'd be great

 

Some of you may have install issues, Make sure you verify this

Go to Control Panel à Programs à Programs and Features

Click “Turn Windows features on or off”

The feature Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5.1 should be turned ON. The sub features may be turned OFF. Look at the attached screen capture.

Just a heads up. After my first unit took huge dump on me my man cc194 made things right and got me a new head unit. the new 710 is amazing. So far the unit has known the addresses of all the location that Schneider sent me too which in and of itself is impressive.

I can't imagine driving w/o a 710 or a 510 back up for that matter ever again. thank you so much Mark and rand.

 

I have looked at Amazon GPS and have compared reviews of the Garmin Dezl 560 and the "new" Rand McNally TND 500 & 710.

Based on what I've read here, I wouldn't trust the RM for now. Too many complaints about crashes, freeze ups,etc.

The Garmin reviews were MUCH more favorable. Maybe RM has a ways to go, but right now, it's an Edsel!

 

Mark, having trouble with touch screen when using the keyboard. When a letter is touched a letter 2 or 3 spaces over pops up. May take a half dozen pushes before the letter I actually need will come up. Unit is 500 about 1 1/2 old. Screen was replaced last Oct. Anything I can do to fix this problem?
