both on for the cb one for the ham radio but thats just me
-
Good point

Prefer drivers side because for the most part that prevents the antenna from smacking low lying limbs like you're prone to do if you mount it on the passenger side.
-
I didn't think of that, but steel whips should be ok. Wouldn't think I'd hit the open coil
-
lol yeah ya got to watch out for the trees jumpping out at ya
i used to drive school bus and lost a few whips they where mounted on the roof and i told them i need a bus with a whip mounted lower but did they listen NNOOOO of course not
-
Will get some argument from the line of sight guys, but I got a better pattern on the passenger side and better performance from what I could tell, and running co-phased now just because I don't want to run more coax..
Those trees are hard on stuff, though -
If you won't bang your cab when you open your door driverside, if you won't hit trees in the areas you frequently go, passenger side. Over all passenger side, i don't care for anymore EM radiation than need be that close to me.

I thought I read somewhere that it would perform better on passanger side, bc it was farther from the mic
-
I'd say driver's side for the protection from trees, and then a clearer path to what's behind you, if it was only on the passenger side the trailer will block a lot of the "view".
