Interesting.....again for the readers at home, tell us about you tenure at USA.
The common denominator with the complainers is not what they say (it's all the same), it's the obvious omission of their responsibility in their lot in life.
I had no issue at USA, got decent miles and kept my nose clean. Had my home life not required my attention I would still be there. I still drive, still no issues.
Are they cliches if they are true? Hard work brings good results, ooops, another cliche![]()

I used to drive for USA and as a starter company it's not bad.
But day shift & night/weekend shift are night and day. I felt like my daytime dispatcher actually cared about me, but night shift was either overworked or incompetent. And if you couldn't get a load locked up by 2pm on Friday you were probably going to sit untill monday.
Maintenence was bad because a lot of drivers (probably) didn't report issues with trailers, but they compounded the issue by insisting units get fixed at terminals. After risking my licence & DAC with bad trailers one too many times I got fed up.
But not being near my wife durring her miscarriage was really the last straw. I decided if I had to work at McDonalds I would. Luckily I found another trucking job.
Would I go back to USA? Nah, I probably burned to many bridges on my way out. But would I recomend them for a newbie? Sure. From what I've heard about Blue & Orange they're the lesser of the evils. -
I spoke to an Ex USA Truck driver this morning in the TA at exit 201 I 75 in Georgia. His comments tend to echo the majority of the ones I hear. Generally happy overall till some issue came up, quit, comments company is not all that bad, but won't go back. Time after time I get these types of comments or something very close almost every time I speak to a past driver.
-
Yeah and when you do quit they don't stab you in the back like some other companies.
So there's that,,, -
The only complaint I have continuously had is truck maintenance issues. I've gotten to the point where I do just about all the repairs I possibly can with my own tools and my own time. I only report a problem at the terminal if its beyond my experience or capability to repair. Certain terminals I trust such as South Holland, W. Memphis, and Roanoke. The others are a crap shoot at best and Van Buren I've actually had the truck come out with more problems than it went in with. No kidding. How do you hand keys to the driver and say "Your truck has an air leak in the seat that we couldn't find to fix."? I ended up fixing that myself as the seat was leaking air so badly it wouldn't stay in the up position.
Not to mention that the maintenance management REALLY needs to go to the community college and take some night courses in nursing. They would learn this amazing new concept called "triage." At Forest Park terminal, I waited two days for a replacement headlight bulb plug. Thats right. Just the plug that the bulb goes into. That was after the first day of begging somebody to look at my truck so they could order the part and being told that they were too busy with other work. According to the manager, Kenworth sent the wrong part two days in a row. After I told him forget it that I would just cut and splice wiring and fix it myself, he ended up helping me do exactly what I'd threatened and helping me redneck it. Light works better now than OEM.
I sat at Van Buren in December for an entire week for what began as a PM then became an EGR cooler replacement. Since the PM was "scheduled maintenance," I didn't get breakdown pay for it. Just the two days that they took on the EGR cooler. To add fuel to my fire, they were tossing out keys to brand new trucks at the time to upgrade students. When I asked to just switch trucks it was denied because "they couldn't justify it unless my truck was completely out of service."
Oh well. Other than the maintenance thing, I can't complain. I have an EXCELLENT dispatcher and I am now averaging 2800-3000 miles per week. I'm finally living better than hand-to-mouth and can afford to eat the Petro/TA buffet maybe once a week now lol! -
Sir, I have no love fest with anyone. I just have stated the facts as I know them to be true. However, by your own admission in a thread 2+ years ago, you were fired from USA. Therefore you have motive to say negative things about USA, expecting readers to accept your statements as fact, when more than likely your facts are skewed. That's all.
USA is not perfect, but I believe that company/employee relations is a two way street. [/QUOTE]
Here is a fact for you to think about. I am working for the same company since Jan 2009 and have a spotless record. no issues with equipment,dm`s, late pickups, drops, safty record or anythig you can think of. and a review of my DAC shows. I quit, with a clean satisfactory work history from USA Truck. I wish you well with them, But at the same time watch your back. they can and will turn on you when you least expect it. After everything was worked out I could have gone back with them. But I knew It would never work. Things are great on the road today away from USA Truck. Good luck to you all there.Last edited: Mar 7, 2012

One side of the USA saga is the negative one. Negative posts on here out weigh positive by about 12 to 1. Had a few friends that worked for them, all still say USA owes them money. The not so promising comments from the CEO on last quarterly. The fact that Celadon tried to take over means they were somewhat vulnerable to that action. The list of negative is much longer, but I'm bored. On the positive, testimonials from 3 drivers on this thread. Ok, I'm weighing.
