Well I'm starting to get a little nervous. I'm guessing that's normal. My check in is this Thursday at the motel in Dallas after 2pm. I start orientation Friday. My recruiter told me I'd probably be sharing a room with someone. I was told my orientation was just 2 days, Friday and Saturday and that I would be assigned a Trainer within a day or 2 after orientation and once I'm with my trainer I have to get 175hrs in with the trainer before I'm on my own. I hope all goes well. I'll be sure to post my progress and experience here on the forum.

Werner gets a lot of bad rap because they can drive through a rain storm in those blue trucks and it doesn't look like its been washed in months..
Blue or Black don't hide dirt well..
The rest of their bad rap falls on some of their drivers ability or lack there of in handling their trucks..But there is a flip side to that in that the driver behind the wheel might be a rookie who could use some tips from the experienced drivers around em.
Just be careful, be safe, and be courteous when offered advice or help..other than that..avoid Werner's terminal in memphis..saw werner drivers sneakin lot lizards through the gate years ago..probably a little different now who knows..but I bet that pilot next door is STILL a hole as well

Good luck with Werner.Like any company they have good trainers and bad trainers.I would stay away from Dollar General if at all possible.I think you have to have 275 hrs.driving and it is easier to get OTR.I don't remember how may hrs you had to get before they would let you drive after midnight but for the first few weeks you will be limited to 0600-midnight for driving.

Getting my bags packed and going to head out to Dallas Tx here in a few hours. I start orientation tomorrow for 2 days then I get assigned to a trainer. Thank you all for the sound advice and info. I'll post updates when I can and let you all know how it's going, good or bad.

Enjoy !!

I made it to the motel here in Dallas. At check in I was asked if I was ok sharing a room or I could pay 15 dollars extra per night and have a room to myself. I chose to pay the 15 dollars and have my own room. Was hoping to have at least a queen bed , but I have 2 twin beds. Not complaining just saying. The room is clean and I have hot water.

As long as you can s/s/s without having to disinfect the facilities first thats all you need.
Study smart, study hard, and, above all else, study

And no drinking during orientation. The lady giving my orientation had to explain to several students that beer is also alcohol! Hehehehehe
The maid reported to the trainer what room had 6 tall boys in the garbage can...

They figure if you can't go without drinking during orientation and training, then you'll drink out on the road..and possibly still have alcohol in your system while you are behind the wheel which ain't good if something happens..
Priorities..keep yours straight and you will be fine
