that what the avg might be both ways, if you are at a ,1.75-1.90 for the load , then you would be at87 to 95 cents per mile for the round trip.
i have seen way to many guys in savannah wear out a truck to clear 600 bucks a week.
like i said blow a tire and you lose money on the load.
far to many are out of business with the first breakdown
going o/o to haul containers from Charleston and Savannah ports

Yep, paying them to haul the cans is what that is... Only dollar to be made in that is the shipping line or company leasing these drivers on. They're making a killing, easy money. The ease with which they can get freight moved from the ports so cheaply also explains why all I ever see coming off the loadboards on any given coast is always CHEAP and why I avoid them.

just like anything the killer is the ppl that go out and haul for that cheap. unfortunately around here and im sure at every port, there is no shortage of ppl willing and ready to haul for that. they have absolutely no idea about running a truck let, let alone a business. i cleared 1800 last week and this settlement should be almost 2200 which aint setting the world on fire but it works for me.fuel is just the biggest cost having to deadhead one way. cost of living is alittle pricey here where im at but it helps i only have a 290$ truck payment to fall back on.. life is just about all who you know. im sure i could do a lot better in other areas of trucking. as much as i love driving a truck i just have no desire to live in my truck unless situations dictated otherwise. i mess with can b/c i know im home everynight and weekend.
hell i had to put 2500 into the truck in the last 2 weeks. been a mechanic for any part of my life i havent been driving something, so i can cover most anything short of and inframe. although if i had the detroit manual and what ever special tools i could do it for sure.Container Hauler Thanks this. -
There is a reason why 97.5% of truck pulling cans look like a rolling DOT violation training truck. They dont have enough funds to fix them right.
Disclaimer. Above percentage based on personal experience. Not counting schneider, jb hunt intermodal newer trucks. -
Hey man looking at hauling cans got some ?s would like to ask call or email me new to the forum game

Seen this truck at the Charleston port several times. The fluid on the ground came from it.
whoopNride Thanks this. -
You only pay for a blowout if you run it like that.....if u blow one and stop your ok.....
-
The port I pull out of if you turn the chassis in with a blowout you will get charged 220? never had that experience. I have blown a couple and if you get it fixed while out on the road my compnay will pay 2/3 the cost and I have to pick up the other 1/3....still a s####y situation but the cheaper the tire i find the less i pay. The port here will ding you for 90 if you turn a chassis in with a tire that is not blown but low on air
.
Under my circumstances cans were my only way back in to a truck(far far far from the right way), but as soon as ive put in enough time on paper to be able to move on I will be done with them. Like to make my way to an open platform/landstar type deal. I would like to be in control of my truck and the money/hometime that goes with it. -
Just bought a friendlinerclassic cheap just trying to do something with it and be home to
