Ready for Donner this weekend?

its going to start out at the Higher mountains and come down later tonite...depending how far out you are from truckee i would just roll with it...if it looks like its getting real bad before you hit donner and your MT..just sit it out then at the casino or truck stop its suppose to be done by 11 tomorrow up there..down here in vegas not so lucky were gonna get hit with rain and 2 feet of snow in the mountains for the next 2 to 3 days ....when ya get closer check it out...ya still have about 3 hrs left

And to think people are scared of Vail/Eisenhower.
After going up and down that one quite a bit, I'll gladly stay on that it and keep away from Donner aka., Downer any day of the year.

 

Im not scared at all more like being cautious Im MT if I'v learned something is to know when to park it. I'v been on snow long enough to respect it.

 

I just like dealing with 70 and Vail/Eisenhower more than anywhere else due to the "advance warnings" they give you over the freeway display boards, or if you signed up for Smartphone emails from CDOT.
Apart from physical road conditions, advance warnings will help me decide whether to keep pushing or bug out for the night/day.

CA, OR, and WA have their websites and hotlines, but I haven't seen any sign-ups for email/text alerts or advance warning boards.
OR and the 84 especially. Snow's a pain, but ice is the ultimate trip ender for me.

There's a bad snow storm that will hit Donner Pass Friday night, 3/16.

They are expecting 24 inches of snow at the summit and is expected to shut down I-80 all weekend.
