Yes the company knows beforehand whether a driver has a passport. They would not send a driver through without one.

New York, USA, Ontario, Canada, Michigan

    541 miles today.

Now in Grayling, Michigan. About 350 miles left to consignee. We have a 15:00 deadline so will leave early in the morning.

Trailer marker lights went out. Blew circuit breaker twice. Contacted maintenance. They were going to have us meet a repair truck in the next town up the highway. Then we found some clamp connectors at the truck stop. $2 and 5 mins later we are fixed. The trailer lights are riveted on so it was lucky I could reach up inside the frame far enough to get the connector on the wires.

Going over the bridge coming back into USA at Port Huron there was a line of trucks all the way back over the bridge to the other side. Had to crawl up the slope in low gear, occassionally dtopping and not letting the truck back up. Challenging!

Unloaded a full size basketball court in Dollar Bay, MI then dropped empty trailer at relay point where we picked up a preloaded trailer. And it was loaded with... another sports floor. This one a miniature that makes our total load 11000 pounds. This one is going to Nebraska. We are routing through company headquarters in wisconsin so my trainer can trade his tractor for a new silver one with "flatbed and specialized" graphics :)

    Wedge and docholaday Thank this.

Too bad you can't get paid for fixing the truck, but at least your rolling and making money

Although I had previously driven in all 50 states before, already in the first week of OTR driving I have seen many new places. Today was especially nice going into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The floating ice as seen from the Mackinac bridge; the sruce, pine, and aspen along the two lane highways.

I like taking the non-Interstate highways. Much more to see and less homogenization (how may tj max michaels kohls walgreens etc do we really need anyway?). More mom and pop places with their own unique character.
