Today I got a load picked up and like always I checked my equipment, I had to fuel before I scaled so I ran on down to OKC at the J. I fueled, scaled my load, and then relaxed for a short time. This means I went in and scanned some paperwork, got a little snack out of the deli, and got Cookie out to play fetch for a little bit so she could get much needed exercise. This entire time the truck might have been out of my line of sight for 5-10 minutes. I then went inside to grab another drink for the road and remove excess liquids, so I wouldn't need another stop.

5 minutes later as I get ready to pull out, I hear a metal on metal sound. I hadn't done a full walkaround of the truck. Some joker had pulled the handle to slide the tandem, and put a small prybar in 1 of the pinholes. Luckily I was able to extract it, and no damage was done to my sliding rails. This could have been major damage to the equipment, but I got lucky. Remember to always inspect it ANYTIME you let it out of your sight.

Good advice! :biggrin_25514: Hubby caught a rear seal going out, while doing a walk around after fueling. Saved us big $$$$! $238 to replace the seal vs ??? to replace the rear end.

This is my first experience with somebody actually messing with my equipment, I just can't believe they would be pissed off/vindictive enough to give up a good pry bar to screw somebody else up. It also shows it only takes a couple of minutes for somebody to do something that can totally screw you up.

A guy got caught pulling someones 5th wheel pin last night at the Pilot I slept at. He looked like a kid going to the principals office when the cop was walking him away lol.

It's new enough you can read part of the bar code, and the road pro stickers. I don't have any use for it (I carry a full size crowbar), but I'll keep it.

Here is the other big thing, I always check the equipment when I stop, but I got to where I walked down the driver side leaving, and the passenger side coming back. I had gotten lazy and stopped doing a full walkaround when I would come back.

I am a practical joke kind of guy but never have I done something that would wreck someones equipment or endanger the safety of someone. My favorite thing working in the shop was to put AntiSeize under the lips of tool box drawers, halfway through the night someone would have it all over their face and never be any the wiser. (Been the victim of that one more than once too, always a good laugh.)

well i am glad you caught it, but who did you make mad???? there is no excuse for someone to mess with another persons equip. if you are runnin with someone and do something that aint gonna cause damage as a joke thats one thing....or not a safety issue...but to outright do something to harm their equip. or cause a dangerous situation is WRONG...i dont care what they did to make ya mad.....
